There is absolutely no reason we shouldn't have high speed rails across this country except for total GREED, since technology like the Shinkansen in Japan has been around since the 60's.

 

Right? I understand the north east corridor being tricky, but trains heading south from here or west should be able to fly

 

I remember a long time ago looking to visit a friend in Houston and thinking, "Hey, maybe I'll take the train. It'll take longer but it'll probably be way cheaper and could be fun."

Then I looked it up. Denver to Houston takes about two days and I have to go to Chicago first. Oh and it's somehow more expensive. Blew my mind haha.

So yes, please give me this.

The train from Richmond to NYC is so convenient and if it was a high-speed rail I would take it all the time.

We should have high speed rail all over the country for sure, especially when you see what so many other countries are already doing.

But I don’t see rail becoming the most popular form of travel for long distances, most people would prefer plane

Distance and density? There only a few corridors where it makes lots of sense. I'm all for it, but I don't see cross country high speed rail happening soon.

 

I’d like to be able to take a rail from Minneapolis to Chicago that takes like 90 minutes. It takes an hour to fly there but between getting to the airport and doing security and then the awful traffic in Chicago it still takes all day to get to your final destination. Just let me take a train right to the damn navy pier

 

i'd love high speed rail. something that could get you to work in the city when amazon prices everyone out. that be great.
