  9. Ok so who's gonna be the first Republican from Virginia to just be like "yeah we're racist" ... it's gotta be coming.

Reading through the GND FAQ section I came across this: "We set a goal to get to net-zero, rather than zero emissions, in 10 years because we aren’t sure that we’ll be able to fully get rid of farting cows and airplanes that fast"

It'll be way more than 10 years (honestly I doubt it'll be in our lifetime) for people to stop eating beef or any products from cows. Plus, a call for an all-electric aviation industry (still gonna take way more than 10 years) is more feasible than getting rid of planes all together (that will not happen).

To be clear I'm not attacking the motives of the GND and I'm not trying to deprecate it for anything like that, just trying point out something I read in it that didn't really make sense to me for it to say

Edit: On Ocasio-Cortez site for FAQ, the quote is this: "The Green New Deal sets a goal to get to net-zero, rather than zero emissions, at the end of this 10-year plan because we aren’t sure that we will be able to fully get rid of, for example, emissions from cows or air travel before then"

That's a better statement so the one I read may have been doctored, not sure

I mean, the sports teams at the university of Virginia also go by The Hoos which is short for “Wahoos” which was also a shortened version of a racist chant they stole from Dartmouth in the 1890’s. Dartmouth stopped using the chant and Native American themes in the 1980’s but UVA still uses the hops as the unofficial nickname.

And Florida (Panama City, Big Bend, Conservative) residents wonder why we have only received a fraction of the donations for Hurricane Michael recovery compared to those of other natural disasters....we suck as a state

Alright another question regarding GND: official resolution says net-zero emissions by 2050, but I've seen others saying by 2030. What's that about?

  22. may be that there are a couple versions out there but idk
