Looks like they’re selling the record early at shows. Wish I could make one.

  3. randomly decided to pop in here and listen to the latest youtube video posted... "Cautious" is fucking rad.

Gosh I'm spinning what's out right now again cause I am so stoked for Friday. Hopefully my vinyl makes it by Friday, though I know I won't be able to hold out and will listen on Spotify at work before I get home.

EDIT: I won't be listening to leaks.

  6. That sax solo on "Givin' Up" ooooh yes

It’s always tough for a band so rooted in one genre scene to pull off a transition like this... but I think they absolutely nailed it. It feels like so much passion and care went into the little nuances of each song, they really fully embraced their new direction and made it their own.

Tracks like “Help You Out”, “Hell Of It”, and “Wait, Stay” still feel like Emarosa from the past two albums with a new twist... and even at this album’s most poppy moments, Bradley’s songwriting and vocals keep it emotionally grounded. I’m very impressed.

  9. I'm going to get puked on for this opinion, but this is what I wish the newer 1975 stuff sounded like.

As a huge fan of this band & album, I respectfully disagree. As much as I love the type of pop rock that I think Emarosa does very well here, to me The 1975’s new stuff scratches a different itch.

I couldn’t imagine Emarosa making a song like “Love It Like We Made It” for instance, but that song is absolutely stunning because of its grand scale and tackling of larger social/political themes. I think ABIIOR isn’t gonna be for everyone because of how many styles/genres it pulls from... to some that may make it seem unfocused, but personally that band’s massive ambition is my favorite thing about them, they aren’t putting any boundaries on their creativity and it’s really cool. There’s room for both.

  11. I only like The 1975's first album, so this new Emarosa album more or less scratches that itch to a degree. Obviously, it doesn't sound like The 1975, but I'm into this pop/rock stuff when it's done well, and this Emarosa album doesn't disappoint.

Next Show - Foals April 22nd

I think I'll hold off until Friday. The singles weren't really up my alley so I'm in no rush. I'm confident I'll like them in the context of the record though, I've loved everything this band has every put out.

Only one I'm not digging after my first listen is Comfortable. Other than that, seriously good. Definitely Bradley's best performance so far from both a vocal and songwriting perspective.

also the only song on here that remotely sounds like The 1975 imo is IW2DWY.... and it fucks

Get Back Up and XO are currently my favorite tracks on this record. Can't wait to blast this when my vinyl arrives later this week.

I don't really love Cautious but the other two were great and I'm assuming this slams.

Bradley sounds different on the verses of “Hell Of It” but maaaaaaan it’s so phenomenal. He’s really outdone himself here.

I’m not always a fan of bands who transition to pop (Fall Out Boy) but this is seriously great. If you ask me, It’s on the same level of greatness as Now Now’s Saved.

saw someone compare the new songs to Bad Rabbits so I had to give them a shot and.....yeah these are killer ! Love a band going pop late in their career when they actually know what they're doing.

I think most of this is solid but unremarkable. The stretch of "Hell of It" to "IW2DWY" kind of sucks though.

This album is so good, guys. I'm going to the LA album release show on Saturday, and I'm way too excited.

I don't usually listen to leaks, but I'm glad I did, this is phenomenal. I feel like the sequencing on the back half is a bit shaky but the songs are still great.
