I love the guy, but he's suited for very specific roles. Parts of Event Horizon he definitely felt off but I still liked it. Nothing close to his role as Morpheus or anything though.

That's true, I prefer him in his "strong black male" roles like Boyz in the Hood.

I thought it was funny that he was on Hannibal and Black-ish at the same time

  5. Watched Insidious 3. Didn't think it was bad, but the scares seemed uncreative for the most part. Upped my tolerance for jump scares, though.

I like Laurence Fishburne and think he's a great actor overall. He's in two of my fav horror movies, Dream Warriors and Event Horizon, and Hannibal as mentioned above. He seems to end up in good horror ha.

  6. Insidious 2 was pretty bad imo, didn't bother seeing the third one. The original was fun though. I wish Wan wouldn't milk his movies like that, worried The Conjuring series might follow a similar path

I never watched part 2, heard it wasn't good

    I'm Back.

His over acting comes in handy because he tends to get preachy in Boyz in The Hood.

  10. I've seen Insidous 2 a couple times but honestly can't remember much about it other than liking it. I liked that it tied into the first one, but it didn't feel nearly as inventive or fresh. Conjuring 2, on the other hand, doesn't feel like a re-hash of the first.

Insidious was really forgettable for me to begin with. Good, but not memorable

Watching Jason X now. It feels like a Skinamax spoof. Still a huge step up from the previous two so far

Same. The last third of it just felt so cheesy, I was laughing at parts of it.

    Sinister > Insidious

  14. I liked Sinister a lot too. Anyone see the sequel?

I honestly forgot there was one.

I've been meaning to get to it forever but I think it was generally canned so I'm in no rush.

    Goddamn, man child Prestigious

The sequel to Sinister isn't too great. One of the child actors is kinda hammy and he made me laugh instead of feel scared like I was supposed to. Like if I saw it playing on TV I wouldn't change the channel but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone either.

    Doing fine. Prestigious

I've avoided the thread til I saw The Conjuring, knew I wouldn't have the will power to ignore the spoiler tags. Damn I missed a lot haha. Overall, I felt it was entertaining. Dialogue got a little hammy at times. Same good scares, but nothing nearly matched tension created in the first film's scene of the ghost on the top of the dresser.

  20. I was stifling laughter when Patrick Wilson was talking to the demon for the first time and sounded like a cop in the 1920s.

"Ay, c'mon buddy, I'm not here to waste yer time and yer not here to waste mine, see."

    Like, what.

Exactly. Almost painful how silly that was. Every time Ed pulled out his cross necklace from his shirt and got righteous, I was just shaking my head.

I remember thinking something similar for the first movie. The dialogue made it feel a little bit dragged, added to the run time.

I don't think I saw any real flaw in that film. Not saying it was perfect or I loved it, but I think it was well done for what it was

  25. Only problem I had was that it was little long. Trim that thing down to <2hrs and it'd be golden.
