This would just become a whole debate or heated discussion about language and how things evolve and change and how one word can adopt multiple meanings.

To you it means one thing and to me it means another. I like the separation and distinction between the words. That's just me. I like precision. It's just what it is.

 

Someone called this months ago. Something about a smaller Switch with the joycons that don't come off or something like that and that would be marketed towards a younger audience.

Underrated = People that saw it think it’s worse than it “actually” was

Overlooked = People don’t know about it

They are not mutually exclusive, but I would say Goofy Moofy is probably more overlooked than underrated, because if you saw, you love it, or else you don’t have a soul.

Also it doesn’t matter lmao

 

Underrated means that something doesn't get enough credit from enough people for how good it is. Overlooked means people dismissed it, either intentionally or unintentionally, and didn't give it a chance.

Generally, if something is underrated, it could also be overlooked because if more people had experienced it then it wouldn't be underrated. it would just be rated. But something could also be widely experienced and still underrated because despite so many people experiencing it, they still don't give it the credit it deserves. Think of any movie that was originally despised but then years later gets re-evaluated and comes to be considered a classic. A movie like that would have been considered "underrated" in its time but not necessarily "overlooked."

If something is overlooked, though, it could be justified because it sucks. But something that is "underrated" by definition doesn't suck.

 

Example: I am both underrated and overlooked by my friends.

Origins feels way more like an rpg than I expected. I knew it introduced some elements but everyone talks like Odyssey is the first full on AC RPG. So far it seems like Origins comes damn close in a lot of regards.

 

I played a couple hours of Fortnite this morning and then I switched over to Horizon:Zero Dawn. I got to this ledge and I couldn’t figure out how to on top of it and then it dawned on me, “duh! Just build a ramp!” And then I remembered that I’m a dumbass.

 

I just saw an article about how RT is based on faulty statistics. This clearly proves it.
