I thought this album was front loaded at first. Then I got to the back half.

This album is so good that Dylan Thomas is in my bottom half. The song that made me tear up when I first it.

    what a waste of wood

It’s rare to find a record you instantly connect to but continues to grow on you. This gets better with every listen for me. Which I guess is the same for anything Connor is apart of. Every track is so lyrically dense but perfectly simple at the same time.

Yeah this is fantastic. Chesapeake is absolutely beautiful, I can’t get enough of how good they sound together. Special record right here.

Favorite moment (aside from all of Exception to the Rule) is:

    You like beer and chocolate
I like setting off those bottle rockets

Phoebe just nails the delivery on that one.

"If we're going somewhere, I'm ready. If it's just dirt, I'm not" takes the cake for me.

I wish I was feeling what the rest of this thread is feeling...

This album is at 'a decent listen' level but I'm sadly not getting the masterpiece excited vibes most other people are getting. I'll keep listening and see what happens.

As I said before, I'd prefer it a lot more if it was just Phoebe singing.

Phoebe really shines here but I think Connor compliments her well. Huge Oberst fan so I may be biased.

This is a very good album. It’s more or less what I would’ve expected it to sound like. Great writing, too.

I'm glad you're feeling guilty. That means you're ready to accept the good vibes! Couple more visits to the BOCC should do the trick.

This reminds me of how I felt when the latest Bon Iver album came out. I LOVE the 2011 album, and Beth / Rest is one of my favorite songs of all time, and I was sure that wherever he came out with next was going to blow me away. 22, A Million comes out and is getting almost universal praise as some kind of transcendental musical experience and I finally listen to it and I honestly think it's a huge turd of an album. I'd say it has one good song and maybe one decent song. I've tried to go back to it and I just do not see what the hell everyone else is talking about at all.
