    LOL.

You may hate me for this but me and friends found this band in high school and thought they were the funniest bad band we'd ever heard next to Venom. Listening to them now I can appreciate aspects of it and I realise I was a twat of a teenager.

Its cool I just feel that phrase in this song was appropriate, they definitely arent musically inclined lol, but they are a huge influence for the genre. I rarely listen to them except when I have an itch for sloppy, vulgar thrash. But when I do, I have this on Cassette Tape for the CVLTVRE....

Haha fair dos. Wasn't the singer in Sepultura at one point, and was the person Max wrote the Soulfly song "Bumbaklaat" about?

Heh heh, always for the CVLTVRE...

I genuinely have some cassettes because I have no other way of getting the music. A lot of Crepesculo Negro, Tour de Garde, etc stuff

Thanks for making me think about Code Orange for the first time in a while. Blissful ignorance was better, dawg.

Truthfully, I'm actually happy there's a lot of activity here for once. When this thread becomes hard to follow and the discussion is good, it makes for better than average toilet reading.

Thanks so much man, that is a cool as fuck list. I realise I had a blindspot there and I'll say I am somewhat familiar with Ulver, Enslaved, Marduk and Immortal (I will say on them that I'm not a fan at all but I'll give that one a go), but I'm curious to hear lots of these. There are a few here I've always been told to try - Bethlehem and Aura Noir have always been recommended to me with a lot of love - and I'm curious to hear the black metal eras of Moonspell and Rotting Christ for sure. Fantastic work my dude, I'm very keen to check these out.

Also, there's a black.metal band called Xibalba? As a big fan of the death metal/hardcore Xibalba I'm really curious to hear that one...

Also sorry if this is off topic but I'm just curious; what are people's other go-to genres outside of heavy music, if any?

For me I like a lot of post-rock, shoegaze, emo and post-punk stuff. I'm also really into rap and my listening is like 50% heavy, 25% rap and 25% anything else. I also have a lot of love for the classic alternative/grunge era too. And lately I've been getting into a lot of synth stuff as well.

Johnny Cash and a few others are wonderful exceptions.

I'm basically the same in that I listen to most everything but modern mainstream country. Mostly rap and metal though.

Max Cavalera recommended Gatecreeper and Homewrecker on Sirius XM! It’s really cool to see someone as big as him still listening to underground bands.
