Undoubtedly, racism and the terrorism as a result of it is becoming a very serious problem in the UK.

Worth noting eye witnesses stated the gun looked handmade.

But is that even true? How are we defining "mass shooting"? Surely in gang shootings handguns are the commonly used weapon right?

No. Before the AR-15 our crops were at the mercy of roving packs of Boars.

we dont know much about gun violence statistics because the NRA managed to prevent the CDC from studying it for the last two decades.

All of that can be said about much of the rest of the modern world, but gun violence is a much bigger problem in the US.

That tells me the problem is primarily the guns

Sorry if bringing up the fact that kids keep getting killed by this guns brings up animosity. But kids are getting killed. by guns. Yes, that is an unsettling, disturbing, troubling fact. Lets do something about it.

The number of gun murders per capita in the US in 2012 - the most recent year for comparable statistics - was nearly 30 times that in the UK, at 2.9 per 100,000 compared with just 0.1. Of all the murders in the US in 2012, 60% were by firearm compared with 31% in Canada, 18.2% in Australia, and just 10% in the UK.

Lots of the issues you mentioned aren't exclusive to America. Your gun problem is though. I don't think this is a complicated issue at all- you have a problem with guns. Simple as that.

I think someone posted an article towards the beginning of this discussion saying there was a mass shooting of some kind almost every day for the past 3 years. Mass shooting, if I remember correctly, was defined in the article as a shooting incident in which 4 or more people, including the shooter, were killed.

Do we know, in these incidents, that AR-15s or similar semi-automatic rifles are the weapons used in the majority of these incidents?

I do agree though, the NRA should let the CDC do it's job.

Those mass shooting numbers are compiled by journalists and do not usually involve motive or weapon of choice.

I just wanted to quote you again so I can reiterate that it's laughable that you think people using Facebook to speak to their friends/playing video games is more of a symptom of gun violence than the guns themselves lol

Farmers ridding vermin from their land (the AR is a smaller caliber rifle) and recreation I guess. There is no home practicality with the AR unless you just want to stare at it.

Fence is good for larger animals like deer or anything like that, but for things scurrying under/through/over, a small caliber but long ranged weapon is beneficial.

My point is if say Glock didn't want to put trackers on their weapons, what could the US government do? If Glock is pushed into a corner, they could easily say look, we're revoking our contract with the police departments, etc.

Playing first person shooters give people the false knowledge that they know how to use a weapon.

Playing first person shooters isn't something that is exclusive to America. Easy access to guns is.

Why do you keep resulting into posts that are borderline or directly insulting?

Have you ever been around guns? Shot them? Have family members in law enforcement? Anything like that? Or are you just saying guns are bad because a limited amount of people are using them for mass shootings?

There's just no point to them doing that because they'd be making a LOT less money. If they refuse to put trackers for private weapons (and thus can't sell the weapons), and refuse to sell weapons to the government...where's the revenue coming from? Plus a new manufacturer would spring up in place and take those government contracts.

13,286 people were killed in the US by firearms in 2015. Yes I'm saying guns are bad. Fucking hell.

I don't know why people keep saying the manufacturers need to do certain things. There are third party companies that make a bunch of different safety equipment; if people aren't using these things, then I dunno.

Show me how many people initiated these shootings and the types of guns they used, then compare that to the amount of guns LEGALLY purchased in the US.

One time in.... I think 5th grade I enthusiastically told the DARE program cop about how I spent my break "playing a video game where I get to kill cops" referring to GTA. He was not as enthused. Looking back I see how messed that was, but at the same time I also find it funny.

Because primary manufacturers have been compelled to it for seat belts, safety releases, childproof locks...But only on devices not designed to kill things. Meanwhile, toddlers have shot 23 people this year.
