I think it’s best if you come into an agreement with friends or family. I’m paying for the two-screen Netflix and I have about four people sharing it with me. However, I’m piggybacking off the same people for Hulu, Prime video, and HBO Go.

I didn't realize the director of the Netflix Fyre documentary is Chris Smith and just heard that this morning.

Everyone needs to see his documentary American Movie. It's one of the best documentaries I've ever seen.

Does he narrate constantly throughout the entire series? I’m 10 minutes in now and sooo close to tapping out from how insufferable he is.

Also was this show censored originally or has Lifetime changed a LOT?

I'm about 6 episodes in and the narrating gets ALOT better. I almost gave up through the first episode due to how annoying it was. I'm also a big Penn Badgley fan so that may help haha

Thank you! I loved him in Easy A which is I think the only thing I’ve seen with him. Glad to know they tone it down because there is no way I’m making it through a season of this.

I didn’t notice the narration bothering me (but I’m also a penn fan) but after thinking about it it does definitely get better. Imo it’s an integral part of the show to show his thought process and how he rationalizes things.

I watched the first 3 episodes last night and there are some moments that you can feel the Lifetime in it but overall I am completely engrossed and yeah he is the worst. Looking forward to finishing it this weekend!

I've seen some complaints about the narration in You. Is it HIS narration in particular? Or just any narration in general that bothers viewers?

Because Dexter and Mr. Robot, both fantastic shows (depending on the Dexter season) rely heavily on narration.

The narration in You didn't bother me a bit.

I don’t mind narration generally, when it’s peppered into an episode and adds to the story in interesting ways. Dexter in particular shows how he puts on a face to everyone and the narration lets us inside to contrast that. Joe is just talking to himself (unless there’s a twist later or something.) The first episode leans waaaaaay too heavily on it in unbroken chunks. And the fact that every word he’s saying is the worst garbage I’ve ever heard makes it even harder to stand.

Also are they really going to rip off Dexter this hard AND start an episode with, “Tonight’s the night,” as the first narration?? Come on.

Is this loser really talking about avoiding evidence trails when he’s been tweeting from all over town pretending to be a dead man?
I haven’t hated a character this much in a while, but I can’t figure out if it’s a “love to hate” or too much true loathing to even enjoy the trashy camp.

Aww, why am I just realizing that Kathryn Gallagher is Peter Gallagher’s daughter! She was so amazing in Spring Awakening and so nice, I had no idea. Her and Christine Toy being in this at least make my musical loving heart happy.

I feel like this is...quite literally what it is in You as well.

He’s done that more now in the later episodes. The first one is just an inner monologue to no one, with no mask to see behind. In Dexter you would often hear his immediate gut reaction and then see how it contrasted his actual response. It takes a while for that to happen in this one. They definitely have handled it better after the start though.

Also now Michael Park is showing up. These casting directors must be into theater. Love it.

If you liked Penn in You, I recommend checking out the movie Greetings from Tim Buckley. He did a great job in the role of Jeff and had an amazing singing voice.
