That opening line from service road though...”you should really call your brother, someone put up a picture where he can’t stand”... damn.

I love how varied the album is. It seems like Conor and Phoebe both had a lot of fun and didn't just want to put out a safe album that would sell because it's got their name on it. 'Exception to the Rule' gives me 'Digital Ash in a Digital Urn' vibes.

Reaaaaally hope there's some UK dates announced. I was first introduced to Phoebe's music when she opened for Conor in Edinburgh.

Pretty sure the phone recording mentioned Europe in regards to a “tour”

I was thinking it was talking about someone putting up a picture on social media (before his death) of him so drunk he couldn’t stand. Conor said in an interview a couple years back that he basically drank himself to death.

yeah, service road has to be about his brother. pretty sad stuff.

"Thought that he was doing better
A notice, final eviction, he just laughed
Always had a sense of humor
We still joked until the bitter end
While all those steps he made can’t walk them back"

More cool lyrics from "Dylan Thomas":

These cats are scared and feral
With flag pins on their lapels
    The truth is anybody's guess
    These talking heads keep saying
    The king is only playing
A game of four dimensional chess

I had a similar takeaway from my first listen. I think Phoebe's understated presence on some songs can be a boon to certain songs but left me wanting more when thinking about the record as a whole.

  23. For sure, it works quite well for the songs. But, I am massively excited for her next solo album.
