I'm really looking for advice. Here are the facts:

I've been with an amazing woman for six years. We both have made many mistakes, but I lied about watching porn last February. At that point it had been a while since any intimate encounters, and she had a lot of things going on. When she found out, it devastated her.

Now I understand the 'norm' thinking that porn is okay, but what I dismissed was her childhood trauma on the issue. I vowed to never do it again.

Fast forward to November. Our relationship was filled with already a lot of distrust from the porn issue (which I have kept my promise) I ended up starting a business with a friend and we lost money. I signed a contract saying I would pay my part back. I didn't tell her I was doing this. My friend slipped up and told her.

At that point I had made it a point to be honest and forward with every single thing. I have kept my promise. I have stepped up, been paying my debts, and taking care of our financial needs (she doesnt work, I make enough money and she takes care of the kids). I made huge mistakes, I neglected telling her, i have changed the way I handle things so she is included. Every day she pushes me away and finally ended our relationship. We still share a home, raise our kids together, still have sex, and still tell each other we love each other.

We are starting relationship counseling tonight. She says it's for a small chance we can work this out. She has also told me it's for closure. I'm conflicted on even trying, she has hid stuff from me in the past too.

I try to talk to her about stuff that she does and it gets turned around on me and my flaws. I'm not looking to push her shortcomings, I'm trying to help her, and make her see things we could do better.

What should I do?

 

Yeesh. Go to counseling and see what comes of it, but it sounds like you need to prepare to do what's best for the kids and your own happiness, whatever that may end up being.
