I can't imagine what it's like, I don't get how it took so long for them to confirm whether or not he was actually on the plane, too.

 

Same reason it took so long to confirm that the Leicester owner was on the helicopter. I guess they just have to be really certain about these things, and also have to inform family etc. first before the press.

 

I suppose it was only last night and the formalities are over .Hopefully it's a quick resolution for everyone .

 

There's reports that flares were seen, so there might be the tiniest sliver of hope that both occupants have somehow survived. It's not looking at all good though. :(

It was mentioned in the BBC report on it earlier today. It's looked a lot more negative since. Others have commented that it's pretty much hopeless now that it's starting to get dark. It's not a huge area, the channel was calm today and they found nothing.

It's a bit down that. Mentioned that the lifeboats and aircraft spotted them, but they didn't find anything else.

Yeah. Kind of hoped that with it only being the Channel, they'd be able to find the plane fairly quickly and with some luck, someone might have survived. It's amazing to me that we can actually lose a plane...

 

Tbf a full size plane in any part of open sea is like a needle in a haystack.

 

No, I get that. It's more that we don't seem to be able to pinpoint where they were before they vanish especially well. That's weird to me when it wasn't actually that far from mainland France or England. I know sod all about aviation and how they track stuff, but my phone can tell me where I am to within about 3 metres, if you see where I'm going.

 

Yeah I get you, but it a good bit more complicated. When a plane hits the sea, it's basically at the mercy of the ocean. It'll sink and travel miles and miles in a not so long amount of time. It's awful that there isn't a better way, but even if there was it's still dependent on the ocean playing nice, which it never does.

I doubt he does his own social media. Still remarkably dim witted from whoever did it.

 

I think he is a complete sociopath, so I would not be remotely surprised if he posted that himself.

Have there been any updates on how the search for the plane is going?

 

Only one of the rescue officers saying that there's basically no chance anyone has survived. Apparently Sala texted his family to say the plane felt like it was falling to bits, while he was on it...

Gotta ask questions why he was made to fly on that plane, think I read that they had to attempt takeoff 4 or 5 times it was struggling that bad. Could Cardiff not send a private plane for him?!

 

Cardiff are saying they had nothing to do with it. He had made his own travel arrangements to return to Nantes to say goodbye and collect his things.

Edit: The Guardian is reporting that Cardiff offered to sort his flights out, but they'd have been commercial ones. He decided to go private.

de Jong to Barca also gives me optimism in Eriksen staying. It's been said the only club he'd leave for is Barca.

What a talent though, destined for the top - impossible to replace even with 70+ million to spend! Very glad he chose Barcelona over anyone else, too.
