That’s interesting because I rank it just about the worst film of his that I’ve seen, and specifically that it hasn’t aged well watching recently. It would have been infinitely better without that horrendous ending for sure.

What was horrendous about the ending?

The rat walking along the wall. I’ve never seen such a critically acclaimed film end in such a comically hamfisted way. The first time I saw it I burst out laughing, it’s just so bad.

Oh, I thought you meant the final scene in general with how Wahlberg killed Damon.

The rat thing was stupid but such a small thing that it doesn’t bother me at all really.

    what a waste of wood

I agree with most things you’ve ever posted on this site but.... yikes. This ain’t it, chief.

His worst film? Are you kidding,or?

Not kidding. Although maybe worst isn’t the right word. Certainly my least favorite, and certainly his most overrated. I could definitely go on and on about everything wrong with it, but the rat really sums up my feelings in general.

Well whatever that’s fair. I’ve seen that movie 10 times and have honestly never noticed the rat hahahahahaha. So clearly I have no leg to stand on in terms of debating movies.

That honestly blows my mind. It lingers for so long! Are you secretly Matt Damon and die every time and miss it?

Not up to date on the thread, but the Killer Mike show was giving me some strong Nathan for You vibes

    That is high praise

Hahaha. I’m really surprised I never noticed it before. Now I’ll never be able to unsee it.

To jump in I actually rewatched The Departed last year, and also think it doesn’t hold up. I was obsessed with it in HS, but some parts fall flat. It’s not Good Fellas I’ll leave it at that.

That’s a criticism I can easily get on board with. His performance is completely over the top. It’s another thing I didn’t realize until I heard someone else say it right before I re-watched it.

Ah so carmen san diego is like a legit kids show...like under 9 type show. I watched hoping they would at least have a cool theme song but alas. not to be.

Ha. I was gonna make the same comparison, but thought I was a little off. It's got a more serious tone, but for sure it has it's similarities. I couldn't help but think of Orphaned Skies whenever Mario was on screen.

It is long but it’s fantastic and there’s nothing quite like it, easily among the best of this decade (as are the other two I mentioned)

Maggie G rules in this. not as "crazy" as the previews made it seem, which was slightly disappointing, but still good and creepy. one of those films that's good but one i'll never watch again.
