A thread on Reddit was talking about what bands today will be considered "dad bands" in a decade or two. With blink in mind, I asked my coworkers what they thought.

One of our interns said, "blink 182 is already a dad band because they're too old to tour". I go ".....that is just factually untrue". He goes "No, seriously. They only tour with half their original members now. They switch off who goes on tour because they can't make it through a full one"...... After arguing about the inaccuracy of that whole thing, he tells me no older band can make it through a full tour without "modern technology" (whatever that means).

This is my daddest statement of all, but what the fuck is wrong with kids today?

 

everyone is just incredibly misinformed because all of their information comes from people online... it drives me crazy. that's why reddit kills so many of my brain cells when i look at it for more than 5 minutes. the amount of dumb on that website... aye aye aye

 

blink will easily become a "dad band" in about 5 more years, if not already. That's just generational

Shit I'm on the back half of the tour, what am I gonna get Tom on guitar, Feldmann on bass, and Scott on drums? I didn't know they switch off members.. Maybe I can get a refund lol

Pretty much my thoughts as well. Not just with blink, but just with information in general.

The fact that this college kid is so misinformed about music that he thinks bands can't do tours anymore is weird in itself, but the fact that he feels so confident in his misinformation to repeat it so confidently to a group of people is mind-blowing. blink has like 100 tour dates lined up with multiple members having multiple bands... I'm not sure why you would ever assume that a tour was too problematic for their age lol

He seemed to think that "bands hardly actually 'sing' anymore" which refers to his comment about "modern technology"... He said "People have to cancel shows all the time". Not sure why that would make you assume blink switches members just to make it through tour lol

 

Blink fans will be the Parrot Heads of the 2030's!

 

Rabbit Hole grows on me a little each day, it really is kind of a jam (except for the stupid bridge, "with you, with you, with you, with you again")

This album can't come soon enough, I'm practically exhausting the discography every day. Need new Blink!

 

But....they're touring now....and....but....

 

So I've never heard Wendy Clear or Going Away to College live...you guys think there is there any chance they throw either of them on the setlist this summer?

I'd actually pay money to see those three in a band/playing songs together.....not as blink but like actually see them doing that.

Tom you like taking on 1000 projects at once make it happen

 

Man if they started playing these and they sounded as good as they did on TMT&TS, I would be thrilled

 

It only closed out the deluxe version. Basically a bonus song tacked on at the end

 

I always forget about the different tracklists. To me, the deluxe version is the only version.

 

I can't help but hope there's a song on "California" that is like Man Overboard and speaks to Tom's leaving the band. Potentially, "Left Alone" or "The Only Thing That Matters"?

Probably just wishful thinking though

 

I'm guessing that Mark didn't write any song directly about Tom, but that there will be some lyrics sprinkled throughout the album that fans will just assume are about Tom anyway.

 

I'm hoping they don't. That wouldn't be a good theme for a band attempting a fresh start.

Although, I wonder if a lot of their earlier, scrapped songs were directly about him?

 

They played both songs during the first three Skiba shows last year.

So yes, it could definitely happen. I'm counting on it, at least. Love both songs.

 

I heard they had a song that was scrapped called "Fuck You Tom"

 

Rabbit Hole has really grown on me. Now that I listened to it a few times with Headphones on it sounds a whole lot better. I like this song!
