Pretty much anywhere that isn't a national chain, we have so many cows in Texas that most places get legit beef

The place I went to in Grapevine was amazing (Old Hickory) but really it's hard to go wrong when it comes to places that specialize in steak

Culpepper in Rockwall is amazing too

 

El Paso: mex

san antonio has good mexican food, but el paso is better, I know it's not a metroplex but el paso is the 5th biggest city in texas and deserves some fucking respect.

Reduce 3 hours of the driving time between Dallas and El Paso and I'll count it as a part of Texas's cities

I like Bobs and Al Biernats in downtown. Theres another new place called Knife thats supposed to be great with a chef whose a Beard nominee off of a steakhouse.

 

for mexican food it's the best I've had in texas. it's like 4 miles from the border so it makes sense, but it's just perfect.

Most of my food upbringing was chain restaurants. Tia's Tex Mex, Olive Garden, El Chico, etc. Occasionally my parents would find a local Mexican place or burger place they really liked
