seriously though, my dad had a chevy blazer when I was a kid packers yellow with green trim and he painted the seats and everything inside packers green and it was ridiculous.

listening to Florence + The Machine for the first time and the song "Kiss with a Fist" seems horribly problematic. eesh. i know 2009 was a different time but it wasn't different enough to be cool with domestic violence.

 

Is it glorifying it though? I've never heard the song.

 

the chorus is "a kiss with a fist is better than none" or something like that repeated over and over.

not sure if it's meaning she's punching him or he's punching her, but the basic idea of the line seems horrid.

the rest of the song has things being set on fire and a plate being broken over head. if i remember i'll look up the lyrics later to see if it tells a story or something, but having the line above being the main sticking point of the song seems like a bad decision.

the song doesn't have to be based on reality or something that happened to the singer. i get that it can just be a story with lyrics painting a picture, but the picture it paints seems bad. the opening verse is:

"You hit me once

anyways, not trying to start a big ol serious life-sucking discussion. just happened to catch some of the imo puzzling lyrics and was surprised at what they were and knowing how impressionable young people are
