I can’t do this. I like supporting the openers, especially if they’re up and coming.

Also I’m 5’4” and if I slide in right before the main act all I’m gonna see is the back of people’s heads

The way @Zac Djamoos stated it is way different. I’m sure he knows the damn song “Dizzy” unlike @bradsonemanband . When he says “the rest” it’s because he’s not familiar enough with the rest, and I’ll dunk on him every chance I get for it!

I've said this plenty of times on this site, but with having kids and the like, it's just nice for me to be at home as late as possible - spend time with kids/wife after work, eat dinner with them, and then get to the show as late as possible. Typically 9 is when most headliners go on so I don't have to leave the house until after 8, which is nice, and I avoid any sort of traffic or parking nightmares.

Whereas going for the openers - which may go on as early as 7, you're talking pretty much getting home from work, changing and leaving for the show. Also, Nowadays, I mostly go to shows solo, so the less I have to stand around by myself, the better. I like going to shows solo, but admittedly, it can get a little weird in between sets when you're just standing there for 20-30 minutes by yourself waiting. If I'm going with friends, I'll go early to a nearby bar/restaurant for drinks/food before going into the venue.

That said, I always check out openers' music online (if I hadn't heard of them before) beforehand to see if I like their music or not. If I like it, I'll go see the opener, but if not, I'm not going to waste my time. Many of my favorite bands were discovered because they were the opener of a headliner I was going to see (Manchester Orchestra in 09, The Front Bottoms in 2012, Fun in 2010, etc). But 9x of out 10, I'm not interested.

Oh I totally get it. My main issue is the ‘I’m short and cannot see over people’ thing so I have to get there early to get close lol

Futures for me is top 5 album of all time for me. Integrity Blues is top 15-20(probably - maybe higher), and one of the more recent albums of any that has really just floored me. It came out at the perfect time. Bleed was my entry point and i listened to it via the ways of the old internet: "Limewire". Didn't listen to it in order for a long time and only had some of the songs. Once I got it all in order and all the tracks, it was a gateway into a different type of music that what I was accustomed to. Chase is just great. Damage also great. Then, down in almost a separate category, is: Invented just didn't grip me at all. Some enjoyable stuff on it though can't them deny that. Clarity I can't get into as a whole. I like the uptemp songs(Lucky, Clarity, Crush, Believe, Blister), but the others I just don't really connect with. The live album is much better. I somehow have lost the file for the live version of Goodbye Sky Harbor which I need to find again.

I'm 5'3" but can usually see if I'm either all the way in the back or right up front. And usually I'm making the three hour drive to the show after I get off work in the evening so I miss the opener anyway lol but standing long periods of time is just brutal for me. Last show I went to I was there for the whole lineup because I loved them all and by the end I was feeling the pain!

Now that is something I can relate to, the pain of standing there in your old age lol. That’s why I’ll usually spring for seats or upper balcony with a railing if they’re available.

I mean yeah I can see all the way in the back too, but I’d rather have a closer view so I have to be there early to get up front. I realize that is a personal choice of course

That’s funny. I’m somewhat tall and I have the issue of ‘the only the other tall guy in the building has to move and stand right in front of me’ while I’m chilling in the back.

That or I feel like I’m the tall guy in front of someone shorter and get all self conscious about it haha.

That’s the thing. I’m in way back and never move from the spot bc there’s no way I’m going up front, especially when I’m with people. Someone shorter usually ends up behind me at some point so I’m like...well they chose to move there. But I have offered many times before.

That’s all you can do. Some people don’t do that. When My wife and I saw Alkaline Trio last year I was semi close but of course we had these extremely tall people standing in front of us. I spent half the show watching between their heads. They never offered to let us in front of them even though the only thing in front of them was the barrier. It wouldn’t have killed their view and would have let me enjoy it more. It wasn’t until the encore and they ran off into the pit that I could actually see without having my neck at an angle

In the rare occasion that my wife goes to a show with me, it's always awkward because she's 5'0 and I'm 6'1" and she can't see shit from anywhere and I'm a 'stand in the back' kind of guy too.

    5' 9"

My license says 5' 11" because I used to have hair that stuck up before I was bald.

Also, JEW are incredible and I cannot wait to hear what they've done on this new album.
