If anyone tries to argue with you, you can then say it's the consensus worst song on the album.

Black Honey is the best radio single of their career. The video, which they're in, is cool, too. When they transition out of the first chorus, it's sheer magic (timestamped):

Hold Up A Light is a song a cop would listen to

I wish I could say Hold Up A Light had grown on me but it hasn't. I can see why they chose it as a single, but if it means this is the Palms song we get in live shows from now to eternity then... yikes

    thought it was fun live.

that being said, I'd rather hear blood on blood every night

None of Thrice's singles have been staples (except Black Honey, but that is only their last album), so no need for alarm.

I see the Hold Up A Light hyperbole is going strong.

It's not that bad of a song .

    Also Welcome Home rules.

Welcome Home is good but massively overplayed and there are so many better Coheed songs

This is clearly a business decision. "Hold Up A Light" has mass appeal, and could be a big radio single. "Beyond the Pines" is an excellent song, but it's far more niche.

Yeah as good as Beyond The Pines is, it would not be a good single song.

A Thrice-Seether tour would be hell on Earth. Imagine Thursday-Breaking Benjamin or mewithoutYou-Three Days Grace. The very thought of those tours repulses me.

The sad thing, "Hold Up a Light" is exactly the type of song that those garbage post-grunge radio rock fans would eat up. So, I could actually picture a future where this song is their biggest chart success, it goes in advertisements, and completely dwarves the rest of the band's objectively acclaimed discography. It's a worst case scenario, but it is plausible.

I actually like Breaking Benjamin and (old) Three Days Grace :shrug:In fact, I'm more familiar with those than the other two bands.

I normally don't dislike music videos, but dang that was bad. After reading the quote from Dustin it makes sense, but the video just comes across cheesy.

I saw the Hold Up A Light (edit) single coincidentally on Spotify last night when making a playlist. I noticed they're only a second apart. I haven't had the time t listen yet, but does anyone know the differences?

God forbid should a band make a video for one of the best songs they've ever written. But, hey, I'm sure Hold a Bud Light is going to dominate the Billboard Hot 100.

We get it. You love this song and that should top better career moves for the band.

Even though you compared entitlement to restaurants earlier or something, the point still stands that you act entitled :-)

Guys thrice is like a McDonalds. You order the burger without onions and they better give you it without onions or they are no longer the best franchise ever.

Hold Up A Light is ok. I would've thought something like Blood on Blood would make a better single. That was the song I found most accessible outside of the singles they'd already released.
