I just bought shadow of the colossus for no reason at all

 

Finally put some time into Horizon this weekend after picking it up in July. The combat in this game is so good, especially when you open up more weapon/arrow types

 

One of the most beautiful games I have ever played. Even this sentence makes me want to pick it up again. Could probably finish it in a night and want to pick of straight back up.

 

Shadow of the Collosus is one of the very best games of all time. Its immensely memorable and inspired.

 

I wish I liked SOTC, but I got very bored and the camera controls drove me up a wall.

P.S. does anyone know why threads I follow randomly unfollow?

 

I love SotC, and TLG. Though my god the controls sometimes were so frustrating.

I started SotC on PSNow a while back and gave up after hating the controls. I know it’s a great game and everything and I’m sure I’ll get back to it, but yeah those controls are rough

 

I like the climbing/fatigue system. I feel like it inspired Breath of the Wild. But yeah I had issues with the controls even back when. But Im used to playing games with shit controls from the era i.e. survival horror games.

 

The first time playing SotC was one of the best gaming experiences of my life.

 

I really just can’t get over how bad the climbing feels

 

I remember struggling with the controls at first too. But then it clicked and finished the game in around 9-10 hours.

when the PS4 version released years later, my SO was asking me help to defeat some of the colossus and i thought it was weird how familiar i still was with the controls.

top tier game for sure. Agro is my homie. A contender alongside Dog and Wheatley as best companion haha

also Reign Over Me got me into SotC

 

i remember getting annoyed at that part for the same reason. im planning to redo Hollow Knight soon so I really hope I won’t take longer this time

 

So I'm now playing Ico right now and will then play through the Team Ico games. I agree that the controls are just broken but they can be easily adaptable and once the climbing sticks, you're really good to go.

 

I stand by my statement that basically any game the press shits on would get a 10/10 if the box would say Team Ico

 

really enjoying DQXI still, but i’ve got two gripes:

- the overworld map, while gorgeous, is almost entirely barren. there are all sorts of nooks and crannies on the map that you would expect to find a chest or some crafting materials, and there is just nothing. there will often be a huge field of land with one, maybe two drops to be found.
- is there like, three total music tracks in this game? it’s so repetitive that i am gonna mute it and throw on podcasts soon

also, i was debating waiting for the switch version partly out of hope we would get the 2D mode but even if it was included i’m confident now that i’d never use it, game is too pretty.

 

Unfortunately that's how a lot of JRPGs are over the last few years, but thankfully everything else about DQ XI makes it great. I do wish there were a few hidden things to explore. It would have been a nice touch.

 

Yeah DQXI is my Spotify game. I just throw on albums whilst I play, and pause them when big cutscenes happen.
