Hey, one of the wealthiest teams in sports just had to get salary relief. It happens.

Lol I found this out yesterday:
    2004: NYY revenue 264 mil / payroll 222.6 mil
84.3 % of revenue spent on payroll

As what i am sure is purely a depth move, i like this for the mets. Lagares cannot stay healthy.

Not a huge fan of this contract but they could definitely do worse. Needed an arm after losing Robertson (...again).

I don't like to hope that players perform poorly but I hope Bauer sucks until he gets DFA'd and forgotten about

As long as ottavino doesn't flop like kahnle in his second year, it should be good. Gotta trust Brian.

So, I redid the whole sim because I realized I had reflexively changed the player aging sliders down, therefore causing so many exceptional careers because players were playing for much longer.

In this new sim (which is up to 2018), the Rangers have done pretty well! They made their first postseason in 1969, a mere 9 years into their existence. Sadly, they lost in the first round ALCS in seven games to the Angels.

Then a 19 year playoff drought that was ended by winning the 1989 World Series, beating the Braves in five games.

1993-1999 had the Rangers winning seven division titles in a row and two World Series (1996, 1997).

2010-2017 ā€” eight playoff berths in a row and won the 2011 World Series

So, all in all, they've been good! 18 playoff appearances and 4 championships. Winning percentage of .510.

Best position player in team history was Jim Edmonds with 71.2 WAR over 13 seasons.

Best pitcher has been Madison Bumgarner who is only 29 and been worth 85.5 WAR, having won 6 Cy Young awards and an MVP so far. He's been ridiculous and on pace to be one of the best pitchers all time if he ages well.

Unrelated to the Rangers, but the most incomprehensible part of this sim is the Oakland A's. Since 1901, they've had only 1 playoff appearance, which happened in 1924, so it's been fucking forever since they've even made it to October. They haven't had a winning season 1978. Comically bad win-loss of 8257-10324, winning% of .444

    So so so bad

All time HR leader for the MLB is Alex Rodriguez with 815. No one else even hit 700. Most HRs in a season was by Aaron Judge with 69 in 2017. Best player of all time was Ted Williams who posted more than 200 WAR, more than 20 ahead of the next best.

Joe Mauer hit .406 in 2009, which was ridiculous and surprising when I saw it.

Bryce Harper was drafted by the Rockies and has been predictably amazing

He didn't officially retire right? Isn't this just an A-Rod move so they can pretend they're paying him a lot of money to do something? Lol
