Yea I don't give a shit what religion he follows. Isn't there this whole "separation of Church and State" thing that is supposed to exist?

"separation of Church and State" means the government will not establish a national religion

I thought it was more for freedom of religion?

That too, but many people misinterpret it as prohibiting religious ideologies influence legislation

Ok, well my point is still the same. It didn't and still doesn't matter what religion the president follows. Now that I'm looking this stuff up, I remember Obama leaving some church because of some controversial stuff.

I'm not religious, so I don't pay much attention into anything relating to religions.

That's really interesting, thank you. Some people I went to school with post a lot of articles about this (they're Christians from/descendant from the ME). I think a lot of people find it hard to discuss the fact that Christians in the ME are persecuted by I guess what you'd call the ruling majority (Muslims), because that might open up some sort of "well if Christians are oppressed abroad, then it can/will/does happen here.

*millions. This goes back to our talk about people being uninformed.

DrStrong is your basic American. Not trying to pick on you here Doc, just making a point that the large majority of Americans don't pay much attention to any of this stuff. The right wingers will believe he's a follower of Islam, but there are plenty of people in the middle who heard that and ran with it and that was about the extent of their looking into it. To someone like DrStrong it doesn't matter, but no doubt there's some country bumpkin in Mississippi who heard that, believes it, and doesn't like/trust Obama because of it.

I'm pretty sure 80% of the tri-state/pittsburgh area believes that. I had a guy the other day show me a picture of Obama in a room decorated yellow by Jackie Kennedy in the 60's, and told me Obama had the American flag removed in the white house and replaced by yellow Muslim flags.

if there's anything i can do to make you feel more welcome, please let me know, sincerely, here or PM. i confess that because i come from a very religious, white, conservative community, it can be hard for me to look past my background, and i can focus negatively on Christians and ignore struggles that subsets of them face. thanks for the link and perspective.

i'm writing a book, leave me alone.

it's almost getting to the point where i want Trump to win because i'm scared to death of what all these people will do if/when he loses.

edit: although when teams win championships fans destroy their own cities so either way there is no good outcome coming.
