Ha, that's great! I remember it leaked while I was at work late. I finished work, got home at like 11:30, downloaded it then I called my best mate and told him I just needed to see him and it was an emergency, I picked him up and just hit play, he couldn't believe it. We ended up driving around and listening to the whole album twice...

 

haha on the day it came out, my brother (the one that came with me to LA this weekend) and i drove up the canyon to the top of a mountain that looked over the city and listened to the album together for the first time, haha. it was so romantic! i also didn't think the album was very great, haha. so a bit of an anti-climactic memory, but still... new Blink was new Blink and that was fine, haha.

 

I just remembered I preordered the new record! I'm so excited. No matter how old I get, blink has a spot in my heart for being the band that changed my musical perspective. My palate of music has changed so much since my first blink record (TOYPAJ).

 

i pre-ordered the CD this morning for my youngest brother. i still haven't ordered it for myself yet because i'm waiting to see if there's going to be a special Target version or something with bonus tracks.

 

Would anyone be interested in doing a group listening party today where we listen to Neighorhoods front to back? I think I found a site that will let us all join in and listen to it together live, ha. Might be kinda fun. I haven't listened to that album in a loooong time. And if it turns out cool, we can do it again after California is released?

 

I remember when it leaked Mark posted a cryptic "So, what do you think" on his Google+ account.. also, remember when Mark was pioneering Google+?

 

I remember coming home from school and listening to the leak all day long. It did take me a second to love it though.

 

I'm in. Probably couldn't join until nighttime though. Got work and an exam that day. Ugh

 

That sounds so fun, I wish I wasn't at work! Can take mini-breaks to post, but an extended one to listen might be pushing it, haha

I downloaded the neighborhoods leak and right when I started to play GOTD, I paused it, went downstairs, made my self a few drinks to get a buzz going. and then played it lol. I had my own solo blink 182 listening party, it was great.

I missed out on the signed drumhead by literally two minutes when it first went up. I checked the page, had to do something and it was gone ugh. Stoked for the signed cd and hoodie anyways lol.

The only reason why I wouldn't listen to a leak right away, is that I'd have to find a quiet place where no one would bother me for the next couple of hours where I could listen to it on repeat first.

 

I'm gonna start the Neighborhoods listening party now! We can do it again later too, but I want to test out the site and see if we like it. So feel free to join in. I'll just play the whole album straight through.

Really stupid question here, but how do albums leak exactly? Is it always someone who works with the record company or how does it work? :S

could be a label person, but more often than not, it's people that work at the pressing plants. they obviously get the albums before the release date because they need to press all the CDs and shit early. and sometimes one of those guys will snag one and then upload it. sometimes it could be a band member giving a copy early to a friend, and then that friend shares it, etc etc etc.

yeah i agree! we should definitely do it again. even before California, like if we want to listen to something else in the catalog... whatever. it's fun to chat and listen in real time.

 

the chat stopped working for me at some point. Nothing was going in or out.

 

Should do an album a day starting June 24th, with California as the main event on July 1st.
