Man. I legit can think of at least 20 other players I’d rather have lol

@Fucking Dustin i know you’re screenshotting this for when he proves me wrong, but I don’t care that’s my take right now lol

At pick 7? Honestly hoping for Clelin Ferrell, Greedy Williams, or Devin White. K’Neal Harry would be irresponsible but I do like him a lot especially if we win another game or trade down.

If Jonah Williams or Ed Oliver falls I’m all for it but I think both are top 5 picks. Bosa won’t fall past pick 2 so I’m not even considering that scenario. If Quinnen Williams declares he’d be sick too

I named 7 realistic choices and an 8th “flashy” one so if we stay around that pick, we could def get one of those guys.

Meh. I still feel the same way hah. I’m glad our defense had another statement game to show they arent total frauds and to revive a bit of team chemistry. I’m glad Campbell and Yannick still look like skilled pass rushers, and Telvin showed he can still make game changing plays in coverage. I’ll worry about where we pick when the season is over.

I think it’s not smart / realistic to expect players and coaches not to still put in effort to win, when their future careers depend on it

If we don’t get a top 5 pick then we weren’t a top-5 bad team. It’s really simple to me haha. The draft pick is a face down card that you can’t play yet.

All of our moves have basically already been decided. If he wants to save his career, maybe try getting a better draft position instead of winning one meaningless game.

No? If he wants to save his career he better win the last two games haha. His job with the Jags is over but his “career” as a coach may not be

His job with the Jags is NOT over. They are expected to bring Marrone back. These games mean nothing. Clamoring for a top five player while rooting for a pointless week 16 and 17 victory is absurd

Jonah is fantastic but he’s not a perfect prospect. Offensive tackles have a lot of bust potential too. I’m just not getting too hung up on one player when we don’t even know how we’re gonna finish the year.

These games might mean nothing to a fan who doesn’t even go to games but they mean a whole lot for the locker room and the fans who bought tickets.

Losing on purpose is cheating, and it sends a loud message that you don’t care about the careers of the current members of the team. You don’t deserve the player you tanked for if you do that.

Everyone else in the locker room is thinking, this freshman has proven nothing, and our team made a weak ass decision to throw in the towel for him, instead of trusting that we can turn this team around.

Nah I'm not, it's too early to have fully cemented QB takes IMO hahaha.

This time 2 years ago I did not want Deshaun Watson. It wasn't until a couple months before draft that I started to really like him.

Big ole shrug to that yugioh shit. Sorry if i gotta watch a sport that enables all the bad stuff it does, I'm not gonna whine about my team, my BAD team, playing like normal (see - poorly) in order to secure a better future for themselves.

And you keep acting like I'm saying throw the game. I'm just saying don't aggressively try and win. That's not hard when your quarterback is Cody Kessler.

You say that’s “playing like normal” but a truly AWFUL, bottom 5 team wouldn’t shut out the Colts. We are better than we have performed this year, and I pin a lot of that on playcalling, and coaches refusing to stick to our identity in the face of injuries.

Cheating is a different moral conflict than using players who are abusers. I’d prefer to avoid both, and being unable to completely avoid the latter doesn’t make me more willing to endorse the former. It doesn’t at all justify it, I think that’s a false parallel.

Not trying hard to win is throwing the game. If ANY team gives 80-90% effort, it is not only possible, but LIKELY they will lose to a bad team giving 100% becuase football is so physical and the strategy / momentum of games is so fragile.

Like, say this is boxing? Any effort you don’t give is more punches hitting your face. If you’re not giving 100% you’re throwing the fight.

Would also be cheeky and say that we are a worse team when we are more aggressive haha, and that being conservative actually helps us win

okay you're right. Let's not get the best player we can get. You've convinced me!

Okay?? This is just kind of silly, sorry haha. They lose to the Dolphins, you say nothing. I say I'm glad they lose to the dolphins, now its cheating and this huge moral issue instead of looking at the positive - us securing a top four pick. The win gives us absolutely nothing while it couldve cost us a lot potentially. It is objectively a bad thing that we won.

Let’s get the best player we can get yeah. But that can only be determined after the legitimate final season results are in. I never said overdraft somebody or disregard value. I simply said intentionally trying to get a higher pick and circumventing the checks and balances of parity in the league is dumb. I also think purposely wasting players’ effort, injury risk, and personal pride in the team is shitty. Wasting the team funding that comes from the fans who paid to see a good game is shitty too.

If we put forth a shitty effort against the Dolphins I still would’ve been salty about it. No way to know for sure if it was on purpose or not, you’re right, but there are no excuses for a pathetic sluggish performance, and I’d be mad about it even if it happened naturally.

The goals of the draft and the goals of the season are separate. It is always objectively bad to lose because everyone who sees the field, their whole job is to try to win. If you don’t win you failed at your primary objective. Period.

If you get caught up in trying to aim for specifics players, you are ignoring the FACT that a lot of players bust and a lot of teams do the wrong thing with a high pick. It’s best to focus on winning and see what you end up with

Like, last time we were seriously AWFUL we drafted Luke Joeckel and Blake Bortles with our first round picks. Did it really matter that we had pick 2 and pick 3? Not at all. In fact, if another team took Bortles (likely), pick 5-10 could have quite probably yielded better results in 2014

I just also don’t get wanting to tank when most of your team’s high first round picks haven’t even panned out

At this point Ramsey is the only good early pick by Caldwell. Joeckel and Bortles are busts, Fournette has had an incredibly disappoInting second year that does not look like pick 4, Fowler got traded. Before that we were making just as poor decisions.
