Many prefer the pro-controller to the joy con when playing docked. I don’t, unless a d-pad is required. Anyway, both are better than third parties.

Thinking of getting a Switch with my Xmas money.

What are people's thoughts on digital vs physical copies of games? They don't seem to be any different in price, huh? I'm curious how quickly 32GB can get filled, not that I can't get my hands on a microSD.

Stuck between getting Mario Kart, Mario Odyssey, Let's Go Pikachu, and Smash Bros. I played Snipper Clips once and that was really fun, too. I can realistically only afford maybe 2 games atm, and I'm guessing that Smash doesn't come with the GameCube controller adapter.

Even if you go physical you’ll need a new SD card soon. That being said, physical is often cheaper if you look around a little. But really it comes down to personal preference.

Oh wow, surprised physical could get cheaper since it costs money to create and package it. Guessing that applies moreso to used games and places that are discounting more outdated ones?

Okay cool great to know. Wow, surprised you can fill 32GB quickly just from saving progress for a physical game :O. Well, I do have a 32GB card kicking around in an old Kindle we never use so that works in the interim. Been meaning to upgrade my phone's 64GB card to a 128GB so maybe I'll make the jump now.

If it were between those games I mentioned, and you could pick only two of them, which would you go for?

Odyssey and Smash out of those choices but BOTW is my #1 recommended game

I honestly forgot BOTW came out. I love Zelda games, but I will say I'm a much more casual gamer who kind of just gives up when things get too stressful and difficult, so I've never actually finished any of the Zelda games I have owned lol. It's a game I want to play but probably won't get the best bang for my buck ;). Thanks for the suggestions, I was leaning toward those two as well!

Another question: if I start loading games and save data onto my current, smaller SD card, but eventually get one with a larger capacity, is it easy/possible to transfer data from one card to another so I can ditch the old one?

It's way too late, or much too early Prestigious

I believe you can transfer the data on a computer but you'll need a mini SD card reader.

    1. Sales can go either way, I’m talking newly release AAA games. Digital release prices are set by the publishers, usually at the recommended retail price, whereas physical copies to a certain extent are priced by the retailer. Some retailers will sell new games below the recommended retail price, especially big box stores. I almost always get new AAA games between 10€ and 20€ less than the recommended retail price (and the digital price) by the comparing prices of the big box stores.

    2. It’s not saves, it’s patches, including day one patches. Plus even many small seeming indie releases take up a lot of space these days.

    3. Out of those, I’d get Mario first for solo, then Smash or Cart depending on the preference of your multiplayer companions. Also Zelda, and Xenoblade if you like RPGs. Lots of great indie games too.

Splatoon is essential. Captain Toad if you never had a Wii U is one of my favorite recent Nintendo games

I have decided on... *Drum rolls*

Mario Kart and Mario Oddysey! Mainly because Mario Kart is probably the only multiplayer game my girlfriend/roommate would ever be willing to play with me and Oddysey is a casual enough one player game where I *probably* won't want to throw a controller at my TV over like a Zelda game would lol.

Smash was hard to pass on, but the friends who I'd most likely ever play the game with already own it, so it works out

Switch is my first "nearly" all digital console. The portability of the console and the small ass carts make it a no brainer for me. I bought a huge memory card and I've been happy with my decision. Also, you can find a lot of digital sales now and a lot of stores/websites offer digital codes now so it doesn't really bother me much.

It should be said that as of now you can’t really back up Switch games so if you go digital you have to trust Nintendo to keep them available for download forever in case your Switch breaks or whatever, which I don’t

Just found a Mario Kart bundle for $299 at Target, and saw they had Mario Odyssey listed at $60 in store, but $48.99 online, so I got a free game and $10 off the other game I was looking for. Not a bad trip!

My son already lost the game cart to super Mario party, which he got yesterday. Really my fault for trusting him with it but what can I do

Hey is it possible to see the battery percentage of the joycons? I know I can look at controller settings and get green battery level bars, but unsure if there are actual numbers listed anywhere other than for the system itself

Yes if you go into the controllers menu from the home screen it should show you battery life for controllers.
