the amount of high profile press this record is getting is unreal

 

its number 3 on stereogums best of the year so far

 

Deserves it. I hope she blows up this year. After seeing all this press, I did go ahead and buy my tickets for the Atlanta show in a couple of weeks. Can't wait.

Didn't preorder so I haven't heard the whole thing, but what has been available on Apple Music has been damn enjoyable. Looking forward to listening in full tomorrow.

 

Struggling to get into this, I obviously need to spend more time with it, but nothing really grabbing me besides Your Best American Girl (which is a legit song of the year contender)

 

Your Best American Girl is straight off Pinkerton. Which is the best thing ever. And the album rocks.

It's "Across the Sea" for 2016

 

this is a very weird comparison to make

Across the Sea is an extremely creepy song that borderline fetishizes Asian girls. this is a song written from that marginalized perspective about struggling w/ loving a person who embodies white America. one voice is far more valuable than the other and comparing these voices specifically without noting the above is weird.

yeah this isn't surprising at all, wish they could go back and rereview bury me at makeout creek now though

 

Not gonna lie, I would have preferred an album full of Your Best American Girls, but still enjoy this a lot.

 

"I Bet on Losing Dogs" was playing in my head the whole time I was at work today and it single-handedly helped me survive the shift. That chorus just hits me hard every time.
