The comic reveals that Palpatine created Anakin through midichlorians.
Atrocious. My friends used to theorize about that over a decade ago and I thought it was dumb then.

I thought this was all but confirmed for a long time now.

 

It was definitely the subtext of Palpatine’s speech to Anakin in Episode III

 

It was and I believe that’s why my friends starting theorizing it because we didn’t know if the book was canon.

 

For the record I think the idea of Palpatine creating Anakin is pretty stupid. In fact making Anakin this “chosen one” that the whole universe revolves around was a fundamentally bad approach for the prequels, IMO

 

What did Palpatine do while Anakin was a slave? The prequels never indicted that he knew anything about Anakin until after the battle of Naboo. Did he just hope that the force would have them eventually meet?

In the Lengends book, Darth Plagieus, he and his apprentice, Palpatine, were manipuling the force to try and 1. live forever and 2. Create a the ultimate Sith, but their experiments failed. It used to be the view that Anakin was the Force’s response to Plagieus/Palpatine’s experiments by creating the person who would destroy their dynasty and Palpatine thought Anakin was actually the success of his experiments. I still don’t think this idea has been contradicted or disproven even after that issue.

 

Ok so a friend of mine has somehow never seen Star Wars, do I skip the prequels and is Rogue One a bad starting point?

 

I would do OG trilogy first. Just for effects continuity. While I love going from RO to ANH, for the first view the contrast going from 2016 effects to 1977 effects might be jarring and it might mitigate the experience

 

I can’t imagine caring about anything in RO without having seen the OT

 

I’ll probably do 45678 and see where they’re at/ what they wanna see next

 

The comic is just a dark side force vision in that weird world between worlds related portal that is manifesting Vader’s thoughts and fears. The comic shows Palptatine manipulating Shmi/Anakin when Shmi is already very pregnant and those panels are also a parallel to the Snoke/Leia/Ben dynamic. It might be accurate or it might not be, but it’s Lucasfilm and Soule just trying to reignite discussions among fans about what really went down with Anakin. The introspection in this issue was pretty great. Will have to read the whole series for sure

Man, I can't imagine wanting that to be the future of Star Wars.

 

I used to really respect Harloff’s takes on Star Wars, but lately he’s been really negative and very OT or bust which is a shame. That’s why I moved to Forcecenter. They don’t necessarily like everything, but realize there’s an audience that does like those things.

 

Palpatine helping create Anakin makes me want to drink bleach.

 

I thought that was a really well done fan film, but best storytelling since ROTJ? that. is. bold.

I'm guessing this would put the release early to mid-2021
