I love every album by them to varying degrees, but LYR is among the best, even still for me. I've said this before, but I find it thrilling that a band I have liked for this long and who's early albums meant so much to me is still making music that I am loving just as much. Birthday was like my 3rd most listened to song this year? And I rarely latch on to non-album singles. And if there was one song I could request they play live that I haven't seen, it's not an old PUoSU deep cut, it's Afterglow.

I'm seeing them Saturday with the Maine and I am so excited. Here's hoping they play Merry Christmas, Kiss My Ass. (Ok so there are two songs I want to see live).

And I've made my opinion clear on this matter, so I won't say much, but Dirty Work bangs and I will never understand the hate.

The outro to Afterglow was one of my favorite moments / closers for 2017.

  4. Afterglow is debatably this band's best song. What a masterpiece.

I don't even consider Afterglow middle or top tier.

I don't listen to ATL like i used to, but Birthday was also in my top 100. What a fun song. Feel like it would've been on the radio if it were released in the early 2000's haha. Maybe it was this year, i'm outta the loop :crylaugh:

Outside of I Feel Like Dancin and That Girl, Dirty Work is a pretty damn solid album. And LYR is their best album

Afterglow is easily top tier ATL.

Afterglow might be my favorite song on the album at this point

Dont Panic is such an awesome album by them. I wish they would have continued down that sound

    PUOSU > NP > DP > SWIR > FH > LYR > DW > TPS

  16. Having relistened to their discography this week, I think they did. The sounds they started there are expanded on in their next two albums.

  17. (And PUOSU is almost unlistenable at this point. My god did they get better in a hurry.)

I think they definitely followed the style of the poppier songs on that album in the following releases for sure. It's not hard for me to see how Outlines led to a lot of Future Hearts, or how Irony of Choking led to LYR, for example. And those just happen to be the best two songs on the album (except maybe Backseat Serenade and For Baltimore).

PUOSU is soooo far from their best work. I still enjoy the songs and wouldn't say they are unlistenable, but yeah, they got so much better.

honsetly DP and NP are better than PUOSU, but I have more personal connection to the EP. The last two albums have been boring as fuck though, just really don't get the appeal

I will still stand by the fact the Nightmares is either the best produced track, or Alex’s best vocal performance, of the bands career. That song doesn’t work if you fail at one or the other

This thread inspired me to return to LYR for the first time in a while... damn this album is better than I remembered. Life of the Party SLAPS.
