I wonder how much Crush paid for that skit to exist.

Hurley/Ratitude/Make Believe are atrocious in every sense of the word. Everything else is redeemable.

Hurley rules, Make Believe has a couple great songs

I feel like whoever wrote that sketch either didn't really think through what they were writing or just did some brief internet research about what Weezer fans think of the band's discog. Like, they had Matt Damon defending the band's post-Pinkerton output by citing to Pacific Daydream, Raditude, Memories, and Pork & Beans? He never even mentions EWBAITE and White. It was funny overall and a great sequel to the last time they did a sketch like this, but the way they wrote Damon's character was kind of weird.

I think that was the point of the sketch, though. That a die hard fan will defend even their worst stuff like Raditude. They probably only mentioned Memories so they could set up that Jackass 3D joke.....isn't really anything on EWBAITE or White that could make a punchline like that.

I really hope that Matt Damon is a Weezer fan and had a big part in writing this.

    I'm not brave Prestigious

I’m guessing there’s one SNL writer on staff who’s a big Weezer fan and wrote most/all of the references lol

See from my perspective, the joke of this sketch (and the joke of the similar sketch they did last season with Sterling K. Brown) was to have people at an otherwise friendly dinner party get into a heated argument over an oddly specific subject, with the humor escalating as they reveal the true depths of their knowledge on the subject. If Leslie's position is that there's nothing good post-Pinkerton, than someone defending their post-Pinkerton output would definitely mention EWBAITE and White, because those are legitimately great albums. It would've been fine for him to also stan the bad stuff, but throwing in lines about how good EWBAITE and White are, or how underrated Maladroit is, would've made it much more satisfying and made more sense as well.

What was the Sterling Brown sketch? That wasn't about a specific band's discography was it?

Was that the one (shot in the dark here) where someone starts signing a song, and no one else at the table knows it, but they keep singing it and by the end they all know it? And it's some random, completely made up ridiculous song?

No it's the sketch where he gets into an argument with his girlfriend's parents over whether or not Shrek is the best animated film of all time.

I edited my original post because upon re-watching it, it isn't exactly the same format but it's very similar.

Lol I cannot even believe people are dissecting and critically analyzing a SNL sketch about Weezer that was, quite literally, just supposed to be fucking strange.

Yeah, it would've been a legitimate argument, but it was a comedy sketch. Bringing up those two records (which many "purists" actually enjoy) would've made it less polarizing and taken some of the comedy out of it. It wasn't meant to be a legit argument.. they're just showing the two opposite sides of Weezer fans haha

My point being that the more knowledgeable they are, the funnier the sketch is. But hell yeah everyone, go off.

My nitpick of the sketch was in and of itself a joke.

" You know my Twitter, right? There’s little on there that’s literally true,” Cuomo explained. “A lot of it is Trump-true. Like, I agree with the spirit of what I’m tweeting, but a lot of times it’s not factually correct.”

    I’m even more confused now

If we’re not supposed to think it’s true then why would we believe him in interviews either?

The stuff he tweets is verbatim stuff other people send to him. The stuff he says in interviews is actually him.

I've revisited Pacific Daydream a couple of times this week. Still not really feeling it, but Beach Boys and Diane have really grown on me.

White is absolutely neck and neck with Blue for me rn. every time I jam it the run from Summer Elaine to Endless Bummer just gets more unbelievably perfect

I could arguably put White at No. 3 behind Blue and Pinkerton.
