To FA that get qualifying offers you mean? It did hurt players. I think they significantly lessened what you have to give up, I don't think it's your 1st pick or whatever anymore, I'd have to look it up. It doesn't feel like as much of an impediment as it was at least

 

I don't know if it's all players but I saw for one player (can't remember who) you had to give up your highest competitive balance pick + intntl $ and that's still a lot.

I'm glad for Brantley, but wish he would've gone elsewhere. Still, I wouldn't want to pay him $16 million/year.

Last year he was paid $12 mil and hit .309/17 HR and 75 RBIS and is a pretty good outfielder with a sensational arm. Why wouldn’t you pay him $16 mil?

I'm just talking Tribe terms. He's a great hitter, but injuries leave me worried about giving him solid money. Obviously, he'd be great to have back, but, where we're still sitting on budget, it's a bit risky.

 

I would absolutely give him 2/32, especially after how they've smartly cut costs so far this offseason.

 

They've cut costs, but they still have $13 million from contract raises and an estimated $15 million added for Lindor and Bauer's arbitration.

 

Yeah, I’m sick to death of the Indians schtick. It’s bullshit. They’re wasting time as their championship window closes and cutting corners at all cost, quite literally.

The same shit will happen with Bauer, Lindor, Ramirez and any other prospect who becomes a star. It’s a cycle and the Indians will never win because of it.

 

Yeah, ownership isn’t great with the budget, but the fans are not really helping either. They reduce the capacity by over 10,000 and they still don’t get many sell outs. Even within the games, a good percentage are season ticket holders, who get quite a discount on the tickets. All of this is still happening when they’re a great team and heading to the playoffs.

I do think we need new ownership, but we’re not the only team that has to deal with this. The league needs to find a way to get a little more parity between the different market sizes at play.
