They didn't discuss anything about a f.lux esque blue light remover either right? That might be even more disappointing to me than no dark mode if it doesn't happen

    Nothing.

    This is all really disappointing.

Not entirely sure how I feel about the Messages update. A lot of things (like stickers or "invisible ink") are fluff I don't care about and will never use, but I don't think it'll get in my way and I'm interested to see what other kinds of things developers integrate into it now that they have paths outside of a keyboard app.

Lol nevermind this is just a game

Didn't f.lux's developers specifically say Apple was developing a blue light remover for iOS10 and ask them to open it up to developers as well? Wonder what happened with that.

the new updates to messages shouldn't really be surprising. look at Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, and Google Allo. apple is simply just adopting to the changing environment of chat.

Wait, that's what Night Shift does, right? I thought you were talking Mac at first.

But the point is Apple has never responded before the past couple years, they've always been a path-setter. Responding and ramping up the worst elements of the chat environment instead of creating the ideal chat enviroment themselves is really the issue at stake here.

Oh I didn't even realize they put it in 9.3 That's good news. Must've missed that.

true. however, i think what some of us view as worse elements, a lot of the general public will like.

and no macbook pro refresh. My mid 2014 retina pro 15 is still the top of the line model. Amazing. Starting to feel really mac-proy in here

I really really dislike that there is what looks to be a drop shadow under the album cover [IMG]

I felt like Apple Music was all I cared about really and they didn't impress me too much with that. The presenter was great though. I also felt like they didn't show it on Mac at all, but I was only half watching really.

It's easier to read dark mode apps in bed, at least for me. The Reddit app is a perfect example.

good thing they didn't fuck with mail

    @tgscraig Prestigious

??? Really??? I, uh, would've liked to have seen more in that department. Considering there doesn't currently seem to be any really good mail solution right now (I'm using Spark, and while I like it I don't love it)

Well nothing really exciting, at least for me personally, in there. Guess I'll hope for a Macbook Pro refresh in the fall.

Have you tried Airmail? I've been using that until Spark comes out with their Mac app.

i tried all the other mail apps and i don't really see an advantage on them over stock ios mail app. i read the mail and i swipe it to trash or archive. that's all i need.

So let's open this up, what was your favorite and least favorite thing about this conference?

My favorite was probably the macOS and since I'll be upgrading to mac soon I was excited to see the improvements they've made in that regard.

My least favorite easily had to be Apple Music.

Also if this works for full-length interview phone calls (it probably won't), they've got me totally in:

I haven't yet. When I get my Mac later this summer or this fall I'll have to check it out. Spark works fine for now on my phone since I just have a Windows computer.

My favorite thing: Dark mode for tvOS and 'Raise to Wake' for iPhone
My least favorite thing: Bubble effects/stickers and Apple Music UI

Gotcha. I'm in the beta groups for Airmail, Spark, and Polymail (I'm crazy, I know) but Airmail was the best for me so I've mostly stuck with that. Airmail is a paid app, but in the beta Slack channel they do offer free codes sometimes and I was able to snag one for Mac. So I'm just on beta for phone and haven't run into any detrimental problems.
