Might be my favorite on the album to be honest.

    Earth > Air > Water > Fire

And that is my totally unpopular opinion.

I think you're missing my overall point while taking half of my words out of the equation.

You never asked a question because you jumped in on my response to the original question. You created a separate argument altogether and that is why I had to remind you of the context that provoked such statements from me in the first place.

    Capeesh?

No, I get the point and I can't say you're too off base with the rest. I only quoted the part that made no sense. That's allowed

That's hardly what I did, but I'm ready to move on from this conversation anyways.

My point still stands: Water was their most unique, surprising and unprecedented EP as part of TAI. We'd heard them acoustically before, just not on a studio LP to that degree. Per bonus track exclusives, live performances, the Apple Store split with Thursday... we knew they could pull off that sound, especially since Dustin's first solo record preceded Earth.

At the time, there was no doubt that they could pull off 3 out of the 4 elements with Water being the one question mark.

As it stands, Water is one of their greatest accomplishments. And that's why it's the standout from the rest of their catalog. It doesn't have to be everyone's favorite element but it shows just how brilliant this band is as they can jump genres with ease.

I'm ready to move on from this conversation now.

Given some of the album's themes, it's unbelievable how Thrice just so happened to be in Orlando the night of the mass shooting. We're all irked by it but Dustin must be beside himself. #SickOfThisSh*t

It's a progression. If they don't do a song like Atlantic, then they don't do the Water EP, and they never do Circles, and then no Salt and Shadow.

You could the same thing with a variety of their songs (and Earth EP if you include some Dustin solo stuff).

I've enjoyed the evolution of this band and this new record has been amazing.

I was super sceptical about this at first but now I can honestly say that this is my second favourite thrice record. What a grower.

The Long Defeat is sooooo good. As is the rest of this album.

Saw them last night and you could tell it affected them deeply. Seemed like Dustin was super emotional during certain songs. For Miles sticks out in my mind

As much as I love when Thrice was heavy, I'm totally on-board with their progression and maturity as a band. Those song progressions are amazing.

"Red Sky" enabled the Water EP as well.

Do you guys agree that the Air and Earth EPs influenced Beggars at all? It has more of a stripped down feel for it and I think if they had just done Fire/Water and that was it moving on to the next album that would become Beggars, songs like In Exile, The Weight and Doublespeak probably wouldn't exist.

Air and Earth have sounds that are synonymous with Beggars, yes.

hmm wonder why they took this off of Apple Music?

the ships have all sailed to the sea

Definitely agree. Beggars is very stripped down, almost live sounding. It's especially apparent when you listen to anything off of Beggars right after something from Vheissu.

Weird; they took "Stay With Me" out of last night's set and re-added "Treading Paper." They played "Stay With Me" twice only to switch back? Meanwhile, "Yellow Belly" is still in place of "Anthology" which was played during the first couple shows until WE said that it's too swan song-y to be part of their revival album set/tour.

Why is there an emphasis on "we?"

This "just" in: Thrice has rarely played the same set back to back nights their entire careers. So much so, it's more rare for back to back identical sets than repeating it.

Is the implication here that Thrice switched out Anthology for Yellow Belly . . . because a few people here complained?

"Post hoc, ergo propter hoc" just keeps repeating in my head haha.
