I don't know. To me it comes off as a discount Cold Cave. The one single he had was pretty awesome though.

 

I was a pretty big fan of their first couple albums. The newest one didn't do much for me though.

 

Really rad thrashy crust punk from Greece. Those little guitar flourishes on it take it to the next level IMO.

I'm surprised that the Grammys didn't find a way to nominate a legacy act for a live recording or some shit for the Metal Category...all five acts are surprisingly relevant. I'm not sure who's gonna win here either. Given the Grammys track record, I'd probably say Trivium though.

Carnifex dropped a surprise EP today with a new song and two covers of Nine Inch Nails and Slipknot:

 

New Children of Bodom song. It's a lot more...power metal influenced than I expected from them. Then again, I haven't taken a deep dive on Bodom since Are You Dead Yet? so I'm not sure what I should I have expected.

 

Quadruple post because it's a slow day at work. I might hit this bad boy up if the stars align.

 

Deafheaven deserves that Grammy, but who really cares anyways.

 

The new Death Ray Vision record is pretty good. Makes me miss Shadows Fall.

 

kinda surprised at no Ghost or Judas Priest on the Grammy list, they're big enough to warrant inclusion

but yeah awards shows are dumb

 

Surprised by Underoath getting a nod, also that Trivium song came out in October 2017 right? I'm not well versed in that stuff but it sticks out as weird

 

ABR has been nominated before so is any of this surprising really

I’m looking forward to seeing the other vids come out over the next few days. Gutted I couldn’t go to that show.

 

Finally gave that Tomb Mold album a proper listen and it’s quite good.

 

Rolo Tomassi is easily in the top 5 live sets I've seen this year out of over 200.

 

The Grammys have a habit of nominating stuff from the year before.
