My wife has been telling me for years to do this. I finally caved when she went to work a couple weeks ago with almost no sleep because of my snoring and was really upset with me

So I have been building my AOTY list all year as some of you know. Now that we are in December I am going to revisit every album on my list and redo the ranking with fresh ears

  13. This pisses me off how much their sketchy method works on people who didn't get the clue about the dangers of MLMs. When I got out of the clinic, there was one University friend I wanted to get in touch again, I should have seen it coming considering she was the only person who reacted in a "oh you still exist" way, but that's not my point. So I got depressed because this interaction didn't pan out as I thought, but alas c'est la vie, people get in and out of your life, and you can't expect everyone to welcome you with open arms again.

Then of course, she starts teasing about "BIG IDEAS", a "new way of life", endlessly posting stories on Facebook, Snapchat, and Instagram with "subtle" hints... next thing you know, she makes a long post praising one of these things, I don't remember if it was Herbalife or something related to Aloe Vera, but yikes. Now, her social media presence is depressing. These so called "entrepreneurs" all use the same talking points, the same platitudes about living your dream, working hard to get anything you deserve, tons of emojis, a fake sense of happiness, it all feels so cultish. Once she started seeing everyone she met as a potential buyer, I had to keep my distance. Bums me out because we were becoming close friends before my breakdown.

Few other friends did the same, but we were more acquaintances lately so cutting off contact wasn't as difficult. Sorry about the long rant. I almost got trapped in those things last year. Some of those guys can be so convincing ("you tell me you're a broke college student? but with us, you can earn xxxx per month!" thanks for taking advantage of my desperate situation), until you start reflecting and noticing all the red flags.

sounds just like my brother in law.
talked about how he's going to win the cruise prize at the end of the year. or how once you sell x amount per month they buy you a car. or all the other bullshit that never pans out. now he's working with his "mentor" fixing up houses that they buy cheap to rent out as government housing. he's not getting paid. he owes his "mentor" money so he's working for free. just waiting for that big break. but he likes not being trapped or tied down in a career or with health insurance or a steady paycheck. he likes living off his aunt in her guest room, he likes not being able to afford his car insurance or car loan payment every month.

    he's just so delusional.

plus the guy who's his mentor is supposedly a multi-millionaire who has a net worth of 10,000,000 or some bullshit.

he borrowed $3,000 to pay his car loan and other debts he had to pay from him but the guy had TO PULL IT OUT OF HIS 401k !!! that does not sound like somebody who has millions of dollars to his name.

  21. Yeah they're all pretending to have a quality of life they'll never get in the long term. The guy who did the presentation in my case and wanted to recruit a friend and I actually had a nice well paid job for his age (mid to late twenties), then got into this while planning a mariage, considering having children, and other adulting stuff. Now the latters happened, and I know it's none of my business, but I can't help thinking "how the hell are his wife (because yeah, she quit her job to do this full time as well) and him doing to survive, especially with a baby and a new house?". Before I unfriended him on social media, he was getting on like the mid to top level of that MLM company, which means having meetings and celebrations in the US, posting photos with his american counterparts shaking hands with Trump (????) at one of these events, so perhaps he pulled off the good old ~take advantage of everyone you know for so long that you start earning actual money~ scheme, or it's all just a farce.

I knew a few kids who got involved in pyramid schemes and of course went nowhere. But they put you in a suit and promise a lot so they felt like total ballers. I even got dragged to one of their recruitment meetings and it was just so transparent what it was. They literally said, “this isn’t a pyramid scheme” lol
