They added a bunch of older Stephen King movies to Shudder today actually

 

I forgot to share that while I was at universal studios they had a Halloween night with all kinds of cool horror props. This was my favorite:

 

Misery is a classic. One of my all time favorites, and I believe the best adaptation of a Stephen King book to date.

 

i bought Mandy when it came out on Halloween and i can't remember if i've actually watched it yet which makes me think i haven't since it seems like most find it memorable. maybe next weekend i'll finally remember to get around to it.

 

Possession of Hannah Grace was... fine, at best.

 

I don't think there is a single possession movie that stands out to me from each other at all except for The Exorcist.

 

I wanna see Hannah grace but it's not playing here and I'm not willing to drive to another town for it. Also it kinda looks like all the scary jumpy scenes would be in the trailer

 

Hereditary is technically a possession movie

 

I guess, but it's also so much more than that.

The Taking of Deborah Logan was pretty phenomenal. fuck, just the cover creeps me out which is super rare. i would definitely recommend.

 

Don't care about "Possession of" movie no. 8,457.
What I wanna know is why Anna and the Apocalypse was advertised everywhere as "in theaters Nov 30th" when it is most certainly not!

 

anyone know of any art house horror movies coming up?

 

I know we have Midsommar and The Lighthouse slated for release in 2019 but I don’t know about much else aside from those two

 

Other than the lighthouse, I haven’t heard of anything either. Kind of a bummer :(

 

yeah, I hear ya. hopefully there’ll be some that we just aren’t aware of yet

 

They are doing a remake of Jacob’s Ladder. Maybe that will take a turn in the direction we’re wanting. We’ll see

I have seen those but yeah, just not my cup of tea.

 

On a more cautionary note: The trailer for Happy Death Day 2 is out and blatantly spoils the entire first movie so if you haven't seen it yet (and you should) don't want the trailer.

 

I guess in a sense The Conjuring is also part possession, but that third act scene where the possessed mom looks right at you still haunts me. Scarier than any other scene from a possession movie that comes to mind at the moment.

 

thought Hannah Grace was terrible
I mean I knew it would be, but there weren’t even any good jump scares

 

Gerald’s Game was great albeit hard to watch at several points. Was thrown off by several Hill House characters in a different story, but I don’t really have any other complaints. They probably could have nixed the narrated epilogue but I liked the background detail on the giant character— although it did feel kind of redundant after everything she went through.
