I’m so happy to have a popular band around with this much ambition

i don’t hear bon iver in “i couldn’t be more in love” but that’s bc “beth/rest” also is a pastiche of older music

This is why I look for music outside of the usual “scene” now. I just think so much of it is a rehashed copy of the same stale stuff that was boring the first time around.

    Just a friendly reminder

This real good folks. Real real good.

As someone who has listened to their music but never found them amazing, it feels like they really did have to make the other albums to get to this point. Some bands come out of the gates fully formed with a definitive debut, but The 1975 had to work and iterate. I'm very impressed by how this band has grown since I first heard, and hated, "Chocolate".

$40 for the indie variant at my local store. Gonna hold off a couple weeks. Will probably seek out the Urban Outfitters variant first.

    what a waste of wood

I’ve only played an album 4 times in a row after first listen three times this year.

One was Big Red Machine, one was Golden Hour, this is the third.

Gotta say that Love Theme has to be one of my favorite musical movements of the past year.

    Agreed. It’s really fucking beautiful.

  15. since this is now the general 1975 thread, let me just say that the mental health awareness and personal struggles documented by Matty over especially the last two albums have been incredibly well-expressed and deeply relatable. I love that one of the decade's biggest bands has started conversations about depression and anxiety and just generally feeling like there's something wrong with you but not being able to articulate it properly.

plus that one time I saw them do Ballad was... a lot.

The last 4 songs on this are really astounding. Like... god damn.

Seen them live twice. Definitely worth it. They’re playing twice here in Scotland next year. Getting tickets for both. Haha.

    Me too!!

But that comment came from someone who thinks Greta Van Fleet is a good band so I’m still kind of upset about it lmao

People like what they like tho!! Oh well. Strongly disagree with it but I really do love this album.

I’d like to think every “woo!” recorded after 2016 is inspired by JV as ridiculous as that may be
