Anyone know about the presale for the tour? Can't find any information about it, and AXS is demanding a code.

This album is freaking great. Overview *might* be the worst song (and I don't even think it's that bad).

Halfway through “kaleidoscope” and I’m all in. Holds breath. Sing and The Overview had to grow on me, but i love sing now and Overview has some great lyrics.

You Fall When You Hesitate is a great song and early favorite here.

Sing is dope. Not sure how I feel about the melody/lyrics to Kaleid, but the music is great. Hate the Overview.

No promises is eh too. I just think at this point in my life they are going to be very hit or miss for me. When it's great, it's great. But the ones I don't care for I'm really just whatever, next.

Okay, what am I missing? It’s very rare that I dislike an album, much less one of my most anticipated of the year, but I did not like this on first listen. Clearly need to listen more.

There are definitely some wonderful tracks here, but I honestly think an EP of those 4-5 songs would have sufficed. There are a few clunkers - more so than usual. Gotta get that rust off though!

It's definitely a complicated, layered album. It's not the piano-driven pop/rock Mae we used to get. It's a display of some really great musicians. The lyrics are great.

    After first listen:

"Kaleidoscope" - Interesting start. The opening instrumental is hot. Not into this one until halfway through when it starts to hit its stride "Can you imagine or remember the first time you ever saw a plane..." - Solid track.
"Sing" - did not like this until the third or fourth listen when EP came out. Really digging it now. Great track.
"The Overview" - Um. This is take it or leave it. Like the chorus and lyrics, but let's not rap or free verse again. Eh track for me.
"5 Light Years" - This is the most radio-friendly offering. Solid track.
"No Promises" - Really like this one. Great track.
"You Fall When You Hesitate" - Favorite track so far.
"Our Love is a Painted Picture" - Great track.
"A Race for Our Autonomy" - That ending is incredible. Great track.
"Let it Die" - One of my favorites from the EP. Great track.
"Simple Words" - Really dig the lyrics on this one. Great track.

This is the end of the album for me. Tim Fain and Mae are great but don't belong on a full-length album. Truly wish we could have had a real closer on this album, several years in the making. I'm just glad they are making more music.

Wack! Simple words is okay to me, but not a way to end the album. I still think Let It Die is the best on here, from a lyrical stand point for me at least.

    Are we about to kiss?

I wasn't expecting to like the album at all after hearing "The Overview". First impression is better than I expected. Skipping "The Overview" makes the record at least 50% better. First 2 tracks are strong.

A Race for Our Autonomy, at least the way it ends, would have been a good way to end the album.

The album is growing on me fast. No Promises has a Radiohead vibe for me for some reason.

To people complaining about about Flow as a closer, I'm with you but remember how they ended the (A)fternoon EP with 3 minutes of nothing but cricket's chirping? At least it's better than that...

Really hard to tell how I feel about it after just one listen, I'll have to give it several before my thoughts about it start coming together

i asked them on IG about if Kaleidoscope was supposed to be the opener or closer, and they said "it's actually both :) On certain versions it will open and others it will close.. its all about completing the cycle and recognizing that it is indeed a cycle "

the Districtlines download starts with Sing, i'm not sure about the T&N one but i think it might be Kaleidoscope. my guess is that they changed the sequencing at the last minute while vinyl and cds were being made, so physical copies will start with Sing. i wonder how the experiential version will be seauenced. all that to say, choose how you want to listen to it.

Very true, but that was technically an EP. I just would rather have had instrumentals as bonus tracks or b-sides. They don't belong on a full-length album.

for anyone who heard the album during Mae Day, did Kaliedoscope start or end the record? still deciding which sequencing i'm gonna use, so i'm curious which they used at the time.

Really enjoy the album. Not an instant jam like the EPs but really enjoy the moments together. Hoping this means more music in the short run.

So I’m at the Hyperspective album release show in Downtown LA. It’s a nutso setup. Giant dome in a parking lot, you walk in and there are beanbag chairs everywhere with projectors shooting visuals across the entire ceiling synced to the album. It sounds like they’re gonna livestream some of it on Facebook. (UPDATE: Neat concept, buggy execution when the visuals were being generated on the fly. Interested to see how it gets refined.)

There are some really cool things here. The maturation and progression in their abilities really shows in spots.
