I really want to like them but all of their pre-album songs sounded very similar, and the full length just didn't interest me enough to finish it.

It just feels like they were manufactured in a lab for 1975 fans. Idk, I feel weird about them.

Very excited for Japanese House. What's your favorite EP?
    I think mine is Clean.

I didn't either, but this thread convinced me to give it another chance. First few songs I enjoyed but didn't love, then AZ hit and I think I might get it now. Probably not a top of the year for me, but there's definitely enough here that I want to spend more time with it.

I dont know why i always choose media mail as the shipping option. it pisses me off into oblivion every single time, but yet i keep selecting it. This is leaving Ferndale, MI which means it probably will go to St. Louis before coming to me in Chicago.

I’m crying to this on my way home from my first therapy appointment I actually talked about them with my therapist and what matty said about not wanting to write about heroin until he got clean which really resonated with me

My email notification from UPS says the scheduled delivery is tomorrow, the 29th. The tracking number itself has no date listed yet, though.

the back half of this record is just so special. who could have guessed this is the shape the album was going to take? it’s such a bold move

Soooo, my birthday is December 3 and I haven't listened to the album yet. Waiting until my birthday to listen. What did ya'll think about it: mind-blowingly perfect? Good, but some songs sucked? Worst of their 3 albums?

For me, it’s a 1975 record: some songs stand out more than others, my favorite song from it already keeps changing, and some of the album still needs to be digested. It’s literally impossible for me to rank it at this point, but I do think it contains some career highlights. A few people have said that Be My Mistake is their worst song, and that maybe so, but it’s mostly because of the trite and questionable lyrical content; I think the song itself is fine, albeit unexciting.

could you imagine hearing "sex" in 2012 and then immediately after someone shows you "sincerity is scary" and tells you its the same band

"give yourself a try" still hits me harder lyrically than any other song by them i think. that second verse is brutal

Yeah, good point. If anything I feel like quarters makes more sense: 1-3, 4-7, 8-11, 12-15

My initial thought when I saw Matty tweet that 102 and 28 would be on Notes (though now we know 102 is a bonus track for ABIIOR), was that I really didn't care for them to re-work/re-release those old songs despite really liking them. I generally don't care for bands re-working and releasing older material, but after hearing the re-done version of How to Draw/Petrichor, I'm more like "X-( this kicks ass, so maybe reworked versions of 102 and 28 will too".
