I'm slowly starting to feel the same way. I think it has something to do with the song's tempo and immediacy.

After one listen.. I thought I was going to like it a lot more. I think the songs released prior are all the best off the album. I over-hyped the album for myself.

So is the guitar in GYAT quieter or has it just become part of me at this point?

Just to go back to the boy band thing their most boy band-ish song is Pressure and that song rules

  8. That's definitely the vibe. That intro piano part is a familiar melody as well. I think something from ILIWYS?

I just realized the line I was hung up on is a Twisted Sister lyric.

    From "Mine":

There comes a time in a young man's life
He should settle down and find himself a wife
But I'm just fine because I know that you are mine

From "I'll Never Grow Up, Now!":
    They say:
Hey whaddaya doin' with your life

Why don'tcha settle down and find yourself a wife
Don'tcha know you can't run away from here
When will you act your age, why don'tcha listen dear

He sort of flips the lyric. Rather than fully rejecting tired platitudes he might hear from someone older, he believes that he’s capable of showing commitment without a marriage certificate.

The rest of the song makes it sound like his partner might not agree.

About to start. Saying I'm excited is a pretty massive understatement.

I want an entire album of “I Always Wanna Die (Sometimes)”. Is that so much to ask?

Also, has anyone else noticed how easily the outro will blend into “The 1975” as the album repeats? Another time through? Don’t mind if I do.

  11. I think it's possible. They've discussed doing a Drive Like I Do record, which I think would be closer to this track than anything else in The 1975's repertoire.

I'd love Notes to have a load of stuff like Petrichor and loads of stuff like this, honestly.

It's a bummer Scrubs isn't around anymore because I Always Wanna Die would be an amazing episode ender.

Still need to really sit down with this album, but on first listen it feels so purposeful and calculated in it's all-over-the-place-ness.

Definitely felt those Burial/Jon Hopkins vibes. Singularity is one of my favorite albums of this year.

ILIWYS title track is way more Hopkins. Petrichor is way more burial

I thought "Love It If We Made It" was the song of the year, until I heard "I Like America...".

Also, anyone remember them posting what appeared to be a setlist a little bit ago? Pretty sure it had them opening with "Sex" right into "GYAT".

I'll give someone many "Likes" if they manage to remove the spoken word over The Man Who Married a Robot. It's 100% the most embarrassing thing they've ever done

Hands down a career defining track. In the same way Somebody Else was - IMO.
