I'd argue it's not only year defining, it may very well be the song of the the year, it's a career highlight at this point. It's that good.

 

I'm glad they're keeping the 'pressing their shit on clear vinyl' tradition going!

 

This might be looking into it too much, but “Giver Yourself a Try” also kinda rhymes with “I Always Wanna Die” hahah I’m the same way though, callbacks can make an album so special

 

I forgot what I ordered it was so long ago ... but it was the 180 clear! Clear never sounds as good to me, but it sure looks cool. Goes well with the EPs too.

She Lays Down is still my favourite album closer of theirs.

I like Me, You and fallingforyou all more than any of the album closers though if they count.

Finally reading through the lyrics as I listen and I really love the line in How to Draw/Petrichor, "Love yourself like someone you love".. Really that whole auto-tuned vocals section of that song hits hard when you read the lyrics.

I love boy bands.

 

Boy bands rule, girl bands rule, bands rule, this album, however, doesn't really sound like the traditional sound associated when that word's used as a pejorative.

 

Hot take: I listened to the S/T again and still only really like the handful of songs I did the first time I heard it (Sex, Chocolate, Settle Down)

This is also kinda what I thought too

It’s maybe my least fav song on the album but I enjoy it for what it is. Some of the lyrics are kind of...weirdly phrased but every now and then Matty has a clunker so it’s not rly that big of a deal.

 

Who’s insulting boy bands I will die for One Direction also the 1975 is not a boy band they are band of 4 gentlemen
