Okay, i just listened to the full entire LP for the first time and it isn't lackluster as some said it would be and IT IS NOT THE MODERN OK COMPUTER, it is nothing like Radiohead's third album AT ALL, it has some faults, like the boorish parts in some of the deeper cuts and lets be real here; autotune and electropop where there shouldn't be, the difference between this one and 2016's I Like It When... is the tone, A Brief Inquiry... is not a superior album at all, but also not inferior, it is so different that i honestly can't compare them at all, i'm dumbfounded, This one isn't a slow burner it's an afterthought of modernity, it doesn't join in on trends like their self titled and it doesn't fall with grace, slow dancing with running mascara like I Like It When You Sleep, this one is a carousel of memories and polaroids:

old ones when you were little and new ones where nothing seems to make sense anymore and nothing looks defined, the lines blurred into one another, the colors sinked into each other.. until you put on your googles and everything makes sense, it isn't a modern picture you're seeing anymore but a smell, and a puddle, once you're taken into the LP, complex things like "Modernity","Trends","Death,"Cheating" and "Social Media" are reduced and made fun of, the 1975 takes every little social invention of the last twenty years and squishes it like play-doh, beautifully orchestrated, it has it's defining moments of identity.

^^from the subreddit - actually a good comment

  18. I thought CIBYN was great and moving and coherent. And lots of bikes. Heh. The punctuation to the twisted metaphors and adjectives don’t even make sense to me in that post though, I tried to read it multiple times and can’t follow.

    What is that even saying?

"mine" is a stunning moment. anyone who thinks this is just a pop band needs to be shown this song. this is exceptional, phenomenal songwriting far beyond their years.

people on reddit trying to sound smarter than they really are because they read pitchfork every now and then. yawn. i discuss music on this site and this site only for a reason. people 'round here (mostly) stick to what they know and dont try extra hard. its natural and more productive

  23. Please don’t end up like Kanye please please please please please please x 3000.

This does remind me of when Fun. took a lot of what he did, turned it into their pop album, and helped shape pop music for the next 5 years. This could be as influential. George is that good here. He steps it all forward too. Doesn’t feel like a rehash.

For any music theory nerds out there. I've been waiting for The 1975 to use the IV minor chord as modal interchange for years. I could've sworn they did it in "By Your Side" but it works so well in "I Always Wanna Die (Sometimes)"

The entire ending of that song feels very Oasis-esque and I'm here for it.
