This record didn't immediately pull me in like The Blackest Beautiful did but I'm enjoying it more on my second listen.

Still off topic, but man, you're right about the guitar tone. I liked it. It felt laid back and fit the songs super well. But I definitely see the Gaslight comparison, though I'm a pretty casual Gaslight fan so I could get killed for this.

But back on topic, I think Foreign Cab Rides is the only really good/great track here so far. Opener is kinda cool, but felt like it missed an opportunity for greatness. There's a lot of times that I can't stand what Jason's going for here, and that's a bummer.

I'm going to repost my thoughts on the album from the news post jason posted today :

This album is incredible in my opinion. At 29 years old, I am happy to see a band unafraid of changing up their sound. Fake History was an album YEARS in the making before they got signed. Blackest Beautiful was an obvious hint they were going for a different sound on this album. And a preview of what was to come sound wise. How anyone surprised is beyond me. The band are a lot older than most bands that pop up in popularity so I'm happy to see these guys grow as they have. When Fake History was out I remember Jason telling me he was 26-27 at the time. I always thought and predicted to myself that if this was the case their sound would change dramatically in the more mature sense.

This album touches many issues that a lot of these post hardcore bands don't. This album rules, it's my opinion obviously; and I can't wait to listen to some of these songs on the upcoming tour.

it is pretty decent (new album) but i don't see any of these songs going over well live

These songs will definitely be interesting live. I assumed Jason will still bring his usual intesity but it may not translate well live

end of offensive song is still bonkers though

  10. Still think this is bad but I will say that I like a lot of Jason's lyrics here.

My first impressions are that I'm a fan of the lyrical content on here, but the songs, as wholes, are severely lacking more times than not. This is mediocre at best right now.

This part is off the wall and is one of my favorite parts lyrically. It also helps process the feelings of the atrocities this week.

Almost finished with my second listen, and I really enjoy a couple songs on here. I really expected to hate this with the first reactions, but it's not bad. I've Learned to Love Myself, Nu Romantics, Foreign Cab Rides are cool tunes.

If you enjoyed Muther or Younger you'll probably like the new album. Expect the unexpected.

So are Pianos Become The Teeth a band ya'll like? I guess until the album they changed things up? I don't recall liking them, but it seems that they have a well regarded album or two?

  24. I don't think they are as good of a band as everyone makes them out to be, and they were incredibly boring live, but I still jam "The Lack Long After" every once in a while. "Keep You" is well-regarded by the internet but a lot of my friends and I found that record to not really hold up over time. I think they really need to tighten up and diversify their songwriting.

No song on this holds a candle to muther or younger but it's an apt comparison. I'd throw pheromone cvlt in the mix there too in terms of relative sound. Virgin Dirt too.
