I'm not looking for the leak, but I'm going into 22 a Million again. What. A. Record. I don't love all the crazy choices but what a statement.

Are leaks even that big now? Before I started using Spotify the whole leak scene was huge. I don't know a thing about it now.

Heh. I think I’m still in the minority about leaks.

I wonder what the financial hit from a leak is actually like. Especially now when people are more likely to just wait for it to go on streaming than go through the hassle of downloading it. The people who do that are gonna be the big fans who will buy it anyway.

Like, does anyone actually steal music any more?

I was more concerned about the Now, Now leak. Got that three months early. Three fucking months. If that had properly leaked it would've seriously hurt them. A band like The 1975 are swimming in it. They have an enormous fanbase. Now please let me say I'm not in any way condoning leaks or saying OH IT WON'T MATTER FOR THE 1975, but I don't think it'd have a MASSSSSSIVE effect on them.

  17. Usually it hits top sites, then private trackers, then trickles down to mp3 blogs and torrent sites. So I guess it’ll be most places within the next day. That’s the usual trajectory I seee. I also saw a Dropbox link though that is gonna get someone in trouble.

  18. Googling things with zip at the end made everyone lazy. Back in Grandpa Tate’s day we had to use IRC to find music. :crylaugh: Like animals.

In fairness IRC is still really useful for stuff like that.

I vividly remember having to search the strangest string of combinations to get Starting Line Based On A True Story via limewire

I was always scared of limewire and torrents. Still am of the later. I buy music I enjoy now on iTunes. Then vinyl if I really like it. The young me would be scowling at this development.

  23. 9.9 times out of 10 I will wait for something to hit Apple Music. I don’t even download most advances sent to me anymore. Too much work.

It was good for finding leaks...once you scrolled past hideous porn and animal cruelty vids towards the end. That place turned to shit so fast.
