    I just finished watching Fronteir(s).

    ...

I don’t even know what to say. That was...something. Anyone else see it?

Filmstruck is dead now, and not taking any new members as it goes.

On my list, I'll try to watch it sometime this weekend but I keep hearing good things about it.

  9. Not yet, but I've been reading pretty rave reviews. Stephen King loved it.

Parts 2 & 3 are both crazy bonkers!

Are they as problematic and unsettling as the first one? There’s SO much more to unpack in that one than I would have ever expected.

Also I’m pretty sure I have learned and forgotten that this character is where that Senses Fail song comes from like 6 times.

I did. I think it was pretty good! Definitely strange and slow in the beginning but yeah I liked it
There were some parts that were kinda cringey though but I feel like that’s to be expected when mainstream film tries to portray a more niche/underground world such as camming

Angela is now post-op female, I think in the movie they use the term "sex change" and she's played by Bruce Springsteen's sister Pamela. One, the kills/gore are pretty over-the-top with low budget effects, and two, Angela is basically a Patrick Bateman-esque (before Patrick Bateman even existed) psychopath.

Weeeeird. Does it still have a lot of oversexualized/nude kids and pedophilia? I was super uneasy without even getting to the ending. I had no idea there was so much of that all throughout, so it caught me off guard.

I don't believe so... it's actually been over 10 years since I saw the first one and then saw the sequels maybe five years ago... the sequels are by different directors/writers.

  20. Finally watched Savini's Night of the Living Dead remake! It was pretty good with some great stuff in there. Love Tony Todd and Patricia Tallman. It's a shame Savini said only 40% of his ideas actually made it into the film.

  21. Work had a sale on blu-rays last week and I went a little overboard, picked up Night of the Living Dead, Escape From Tommorow, Amityville Horror, Amityville Horror II: The Possession, and Silent House.

Thoughts on Silent House? I've never seen it, and I've read mixed things overall, but everything I've read intrigues me.

I highly recommend listening to the Faculty of Horror episode about Sleepaway Camp- they do a pretty great job of unpacking the problematic elements of the film and talking about its weird legacy.

I watched Sleepaway Camp like a year ago and didn’t really enjoy it. I listened to the How Did This Get Made? episode for it and they were spot on lol

I should look into that too, I imagine they had some of the same questions that I did.

I do think it worked on the pure slasher level in that the kills were cool, but there’s just so much else going on that I kept being taken out of it.

Probably not. The podcast just makes fun of bad movies, but it’s really funny.
