Mike do you not understand what singles are? This is literally what a music video for a single is. Wanna guess what the third song will be to get a video if they release one? The entire point of releasing singles is to pick the group of songs you think will have the best chance at reaching and impacting the most people. Then you release them as songs to people, and try and get them on the radio, and playlists, and to help do that you follow that up with videos to promote them and get them more spins, which then you use to take to the music streamers/radio. That's the cycle.

Releasing a video for a single is very literally how it works out for singles.

 

Then his takes aren't hot takes, even if they're mis-named as hot takes. A hot take is something like a snap judgment, said without any real thought or consideration, e.g. watching a quarterback throw one bad pass and declaring them the worst quarterback ever.

Saying things to deliberately piss other people off is just being an asshole.

 

Literally just block him. If we all do then it is literally like he isnt here. It'll be like he left on his own and we can all just pretend that's what happened.

 

Not exactly the best choice of metrics, especially the last one. Merchandise bought? Thrice tattoos? Just questioning your claims to an unattainable title.

 

but you need to subtract the all the negative stuff you say and the albums and songs you dislike from the band. You are at best a causal fan that gets over hyper online sometimes.

Being #1 fan takes a lot more than going to some shows

 

I have tickets, I had better get an email about this. A quick Google search seems to indicate that they've only announced it on FaceBook so far, which I don't use anymore.

This is a fully grown ADULT man who is getting worked up over people knowing he's "the biggest Thrice fan." It's not worth it. He doesn't deserve your energy.

 

I love fandom, as a huge fan myself I respect it. It's just so strange to claim that title and then always talk shit about the band haha.

 

Hence, service time.

 

(I'd also like to point out that putting the same product in a new package has been one of the most effective marketing moves of the past like 100(?) years. It's pretty much a marketing 101 thing at this point. From new packaging, to full re-brands, it's ... uh ... a very good marketing strategy. As is using YouTube in multiple ways to push the songs you think the most people will like.)

 

I wish they picked a different song for a video. The video itself for Only Us is awkward, but makes a nice anti Big Brother statement.

Thrice has had very little single success because they are an album band. One song alone doesn’t just represent the band (for lots or artists I does). It’s the combination of songs on an album. Dustin’s lyrics are often quite visual as well. I’m just glad Epitaph is giving them a push.

 

Being a fan is totally fine! But I think the idea of even caring that you are the #1 fan or a bigger fan than anyone else is immature. Escpecially when you try to use it as a reason that you're 100% subjective opinion holds more weight than someone else's( IE Artist).

I completely agree. I post on some Star Wars forums, and the number of people who try to justify their views as more valid based on how big of a fan they believe they are is pretty crazy.

I wonder when, according to Thrice, I’ll be eligible for arbitration? I hope I don’t get the Kris Bryant treatment and get left in the minors for longer than necessary.

I'm a much bigger fan of Emery than anyone on this site, especially @The Mysterious !!... Plenty of service time listening to their albums in my parents basement.. oh wait.. wrong thread... sorry y'all

 

I try and be nice to Mike J and then he goes on rants like that and makes it really hard to actually defend him in any capacity. *Sigh*

Mike is terrible poster but I always crack up at his wildly hyperbolic and absurd Thrice opinions and cannot imagine blocking him over them lol. He’s just so obviously far in the minority and we all know it that it just feels silly to get worked up about. Seeing that time he said all he listened to was Thrice and his own music was gold. He’s all people talk about when he posts anyway so blocking him is pointless unless the goal is just to dunk on him by announcing it

edit: my opinion would probably change if he did this in more than just this thread though
