    The rivalry is back on

Alternatively, if a band wasn’t very good at their peak, was it really a peak?

Agreed, which is why people tend to overvalue draft picks in general.

The Browns have had hoards and hoards of picks the last few years and, for the most part, missed on the vast majority of them.

My opinion is the scene would've destroyed them eventually like they do with everything haha. Jawbreaker would've gone the way of Weezer or Death Cab. They'll likely go the way of American Football now.

If they had several more Dear Yous in them, they would've done it.

Well, he will throw on third and long but it’s always short of the sticks. Never will he challenge the third down marker. He wants players to do it for him with YAC.

Yes to the first sentence but I disagree with the analysis. Zone is actually not as exhausting as man to man, and I don’t think Ramsey is getting tired. I think it’s the opposite - Wash is actually calling zone to PREVENT defensive fatigue due to our offense getting a lot of 3 and outs.

This is supported by the fact that we called much more man to man this game while Fournette was controlling the clock (and played much better on defense as a result). We are just not good at zone defense.

Which is still partially Todd Wash’s fault, both for failing to coordinate team chemistry & communication AND for failing to stick with our strengths. Let them get tired doing what they do best. It’s better to play 3 good quarters than play 0 good quarters of football, and eventually conditioning would catch up to them and they’d be an even more tenacious defense.

When Brown, Hilton, and Hill made plays it was all against 3 deep zone. Ramsey’s job there is to play outside leverage and allow the safety to take the middle, which is why WR have only had success against him on deep crossing routes. He’s not getting “beat” his job is to defend the sideline and especially not to get caught biting inside on a double move, like a post corner or a sluggo. If anything Ramsey is smart to get there anyway and make the tackle, it looks like he got beat but he’s actually making a tackle ACROSS THE FIELD from his assignment.

Idk that it was an RPO. A lot of running plays have him pretend to run the other direction to make it LOOK like an RPO, but he half assed it so much that I feel like it wasn’t. Especially since Hackett hadn’t called play action all game, he clearly wasn’t about to do it there. I feel like Bortles would’ve had to say “fuck you Hackett” and take the ball himself in spite of Hackett.

@spiffa0 said it best - Bortles is bad but we are also calling a shit gameplan because we are afraid to let him do normal QB things.

As a coach you shouldn’t call plays scared of your players messing up. You should COACH and MAKE SURE THEY MESS UP LESS. If you have a lot of injuries and your backups are this bad that’s on the coaches. If Bortles plays terrible and continues to regress, and you don’t find a way to break those habits, and you don’t even hold him accountable and put Kessler in... that’s on the coaches.

Our receivers are pretty bad dude haha. Moncrief is literally doing better here than he did with Andrew Luck, this is all you’re gonna get.

You’re being awful nice to say Westbrook has been “fine”, he hasn’t done anything to help us win. Just another little speedy guy we throw to underneath the coverage on 3rd and 10. Just cause he doesn’t drop the ball when he’s open like Cole, doesn’t make him any good when it comes to, attacking the opposing gameplan.

    Yes, yes, yes, and yes.

I mean we did sign Ereck Flowers because 3 left tackles went down for the SEASON. We did lose Lee for the SEASON. (say what you want but he’s better than Moncrief and Westbrook at LEAST.). We have lost 2 tight ends for the SEASON. And the whole secondary only playing 3 healthy games thing. The injuries are rough, but our backups being terrible and our starters not adjusting when they are missing teammates, still looks bad on our coaching.

The Texans have had 1 year as a franchise without a true #1 WR and that's kinda amazing

Good Lord I wish we had someone as good as Hopkins right now.

2014 Dez is the closest we've had to that in about ten years.

He's definitely looking gassed at times out there.

The majority of receivers out there don't help the team win. Our receivers aren't bad. Our receiving CORP is. Like, Moncrief/Dede/Cole/Chark are all good WR3s haha. WR3s are also incredibly replaceable. Chark is the only one that gives us something that any given receiver wouldn't. And my god using Moncrief on deep routes and Chark on short dump offs is infuriating me to no end.

In the end they may or may not be able to get a better receiver than Cooper with that pick. But at least they’ll get whoever on a rookie scale, instead of a guy who’s gonna get paid

Sure, if that player drafted actually pans out. Otherwise, you spent a first round pick on a player that makes less and produces less but the same capital was given up for him.

Again, just don't draft a guy that sucks.

Then again, anything short of a Super Bowl win is going to convince anyone that it wasn't a good trade or whatever, so it's not even worth discussing with some people.

When was Dallas's last true miss in the 1st round though? I'd feel pretty damn confident Dallas can draft a better player than Cooper there, they've done it all but 2 years this decade if I recall.

I've never applied. Could've saved the Dolphins/Vikings big headaches with Parker/Treadwell though.

It all depends on what you consider a miss, I guess. We traded up for Claiborne but he didn't pan out until his final year. Some people will blame injuries, some will blame coaching, and the rest blame talent. It's a combination of all three, imo.

Taco has played okay, but nothing worth writing home about. Obviously LVE is incredible.

We haven't had a full on miss in quite some time, but there are a few players that are just okay and I think Cooper has already shown that he's more than just okay.

Another thing I always think about is that we have only drafted a true #1 WR once in the last 15-20 years and that's Dez. Everyone else we've drafted are, at best, #2 receivers.

After a player is drafted, that deal is done though. It doesn’t matter that the Browns drafted Brandon Weeden with a first rounder, because he demonstrated that he wasn’t worth that. Do you think that if the Raiders knew this would be who Cooper would become pre-draft they would have still drafted him? I don’t

I’m not entirely shitting on the Cowboys here. It’s smart from the perspective of trying to see who Dak is before you lock him in as the guy or whatever. But the Raiders got good value for him, and that’s true regardless of who they end up drafting or if the Cowboys made a good trade too
