No Future has some memorable riffs imo

 

More palm muting and songs like sober, cynical, and BOTO. She’s out of her mind is a criminally underrated single. They’re not even playing it in Vegas. Less “first thought/ best thought” approach.

 

There were no Na Na na's or Whoa's on that Aoki song - so they're up to a good start.

 

The beginning is too similar to BTD but the bridge isn’t bad. I wouldn’t call it memorable though.

 

I don’t understand why they stopped playing SOOHM and Sober live and why it took them so long to play them live in the first place yet continue to play Kings Of The Weekend and LA every concert. Especially Kings which is the definition of filler song.

 

For them to realize it’s okay to not sing every second of the song and let some parts breathe.

 

This is super funny. I just watched some Motion City stuff which included the recording of CTTM and they say that is the exact thing they learned from Mark.

Mark needs to channel 2004 Mark. I assume 2004. But maybe early 2005?

KOTW is the name of the residency so it KINDA makes sense. LA is a great live track. Travis can beat the shit out of the drums on that one. They seem to refuse to tune down songs but I imagine sober doesn’t get played because of mark’s range. However, they only play adam’s song once a weekend. The other night they play STFTK. Maybe they should have chosen to play sober those nights too since that and Adams song are in his upper register and probably tougher for him to play. He sprayed his throat with throat coat before Adams song at my show.
They’ve also heavily modified the set since the beginning of the residency - likely due to Travis’ arms.

 

All I know is Matt kills it on Always and that needs to replace Down as an every show staple. He must love playing Down though

 

I was talking about even before the Vegas residency playing KOTW all the time seems odd. I don’t think anyone would have guessed it would be the 5th most played California track. I do get them playing it for the residency because it’s the theme.

I do remember Mark saying in an interview that Sober was hard for him to play because he doesn’t get a chance to breathe during it.

Yeah I’m sure Travis’ injures have changed their set list plans a bit from what they had been playing in June. Stinks they stopped playing the acoustic set half way through.

 

I literally just listened to their IheartRadio concert this weekend again and Matt is fantastic with Always. Definitely agree that song should replace Down.

Man wish blink would do some kind of documentary about the making of the new album. It would have been a great opportunty now when they had the residency too. Changing between pro shot live recordings and them in the studio would have been cool, kinda like bullet in a bible.

It would also give an answer to how much feldy actually writes and what input matt has.

 

I feel that. I loved those documentaries that bands would put out (like the urethra chronicles for example). Really let you get to know the bands as people, and that made me fall in love with so many bands. I know it's different now because everyone has instagram and shit, but I miss those days.

 

Listening to S/T a lot lately.

 

Have they ever talked about how 6/8 came together? Because I have a theory that someone with the record label or something told them ‘this song is okay but it needs some personality’, so they just had Matt go in and scream about the song needing some fucking personality in the background.
