The Mets are cheap

 

I'm so glad the Cubs got Chris "Cobra" Coghlan back. He's sucked this year with the A's, but I have hope. He was great last year.

 

My dad always liked Cobra, so he's pretty excited. i think its cool since they didn't trade away anyone of value.

 

@Chris Yates @AelNire what do you guys know about Will Benson? Was he talked about much in ATL, or not so much? I am kind of nervous the Tribe won't be able to sign him.

 

I've heard some. He's a bigass outfielder (6'7 or close to that) but he's also really fast to be so big. I don't know about how well he bats. We thought he was def going to play ball in college and not go straight to pro but my dad told me he big time wants to sign with Cleveland.

 

He probably likes the idea of the zimmer Benson Frazier of haha a bunch of top guys fell out of the 1st and probably wont be signed now. Kind of hate when that stuff happens.

 

This is good to hear. I watched some YouTube videos and read the local write-up. The only comp I seem to find is Heyward with more power potential, but they advertise him as a five tooler that could kick down to first. Between Naquin, Zimmer, Frazier, and now Benson, Cleveland has a lot of OF talent in the pipeline.

 

This is childish but I hate when GA players go to teams like the Yankees, Mets, Nationals, etc. I'm glad Cleveland got him bc I like them well enough.

There was a really good player out of Mercer in Macon and I can't find anything on what happened to him? I think the Reds were looking at him but I don't know anything other than that.

 

Frazier was another ATL, or at least GA guy that we grabbed in the first round a few years ago. Apparently Frazier and Benson crossed paths a lot in the travel circuit, so they already know each other. Kind of funny how that works out. I wonder if Benson popped on our radar scouting Frazier. That would explain some of the disparity in where pundits ranked Benson and where we drafted him. I am excited about Benson. Got accepted by Duke, so he has at least a somewhat level head on his shoulders.

 

Seattle got him with the 10th pick.

 

Kyle Lewis? 11th. Good choice for the Ms, seems like a solid guy as well. So you hate when southern players go to northern, liberal area teams? Kinda weird..

 

He's not good at all and I don't get it either.

 

Sabathia has an 0.71 era his last six starts. Best six game stretch of his career. Crazy

Jones is the guy you should be worried about the Indians signing. Signability seems to be the reason he dropped out of the first round. Benson will sign. Likely for under slot. Same with Ice. So that should help the Tribe sign Jones.

and as far as Benson's mental make up, everything I've read, including some quotes from him after being drafted, seem to strongly indicate that he is a peach (lolol get it?) of a kid. Sounded incredibly mature and thoughtful for a 17 year old.

 

My God, it must be 70% Cubs fans in Atlanta. Understandably so.

Im gonna be in Chicago next week! I wanted to catch the Cubs game on Friday but its already sold out/way too expensive on stub hub

It looks like the White Sox are gonna be in town that week too, thoughts, comments concerns on catching a White Sox game? Everyone always warns against the area around the field but like Im not too deterred by that since the area around Citi Field/Shea has always been really shady.

 

You can just take the red line to the stadium from about anywhere else so the area is basically a moot point, it's not like you're walking around down there, just the train stop to the stadium.

 

Fuck this bullpen. I feel so bad for Matt Shoemaker. He deserves so much better.

 

Going to be in Cupertino for three weeks in July. Going to try and catch a Giants and an A's game while I'm there. Any tips on where to sit and all that stuff? Or even places I should be eating/checking out, etc. Never been to either stadium before.
