I like artists exploring out of the box collaborations, even when I don't love the end results.

Than you're cool and this isn't aimed at you haha. I just mean anyone being mad at them working with Aoki when they worked with Yelawolf with Tom is selective outrage and hypocritical Tombot nonsense

Personally I don't like the Yelawolf feature at all and it drags the song down for me, but I pretty much don't care who they work with, even if it may not work for me

As much as I hate that Yelawolf verse, I always loved it being there as like a symbol of their friendship. Like it was Tom's way of being "thanks for letting my side project influence our music, lets use yours now"

I'm confused, the Yelawolf feature is 100% because of Travis. Travis and Yelawolf were working on a collaborative EP with just the two of them (Psycho White), that he brought Yelawolf to the studio for the Blink track. Tom sings on it, yeah, but what am I missing...

I'm not saying it was Tom's idea. People are acting like he'd never let blink work with Aoki. He let Travis bring in Yelawolf.

  6. Wait - Tom sings on the Psycho White EP?!?

ooooooh then yeah that's bullshit, Tom wouldn't have "blocked" anyone from working with Aoki haha

haha no, he sings on the Blink song with Yelawolf

Annoying blink negativity on social media put me in an angry Mark mood so it's Lycanthrope and +44 time for me lol

The more I listen to the Aoki collab the more I fucking love the song, and I'm not into EDM at all. It's super catchy. Could you imagine if that song became a radio hit? They apparently made a video for it, so I'd guess it will be a single at some point. Imagining Skiba on a Billboard 100 charting song is crazy.

I was thinking the same thing, would be amazing to see Skiba on the Hot 100.
And yeah this song has really grown on me. The "tonightttttttt why are we so broken" hook has been stuck in my head.

Pretty interesting watch. I had no idea that Mark singles that prechorus or that they had that AVA sounding synth in it.

I mean Tom blocked the band from making new music since 2012 so I absolutely could see him blocking blink from working with Aoki in 2018 if he was still in the band. So I guess for once the Tombots aren’t wrong.

So a new album is coming up. Most likely next year. California had its flaws, but some stand out moments aswell. So i was wondering, which elements of California (and dlx) would you like the guys to bring with them on the next record, if any? For me personally it would be:

    - The bridges (for example BTD and LA). Mark nailed a lot of the bridges on California.
    - The bass "riffs". More specifically the intros to left alone, and rabbit hole. Mark wrote some cool bass stuff on California.
    - The style of songs like LA. Always liked this one. Skiba nails the chorus and it is a style of music i would like to see blink continue experementing with. Same with 6/8.

Then there are a lot of stuff they shouldnt bring with them on the new album, but i think we all can agree on what those are.

I want stuff in the vein of Bored To Death, Misery, Left Alone, Last Train Home and 6/8. Super hyped for whatever comes next though

I’m pretty grateful that we practically got a double album from these guys.

What id want are more melodies on par with what’s on CA/CA Dlx. I would like more standout riffs. I felt like Marks bass riffs standout more than the guitar parts. Keep the bass riffage, add more guitar. I’d also like the same energy, but darker lyrics.

Yes more standout guitar parts. I feel like the repetition of the "du-du-duun" riffs on California might be due to Feldmanns producing style. That type of riff is probably all you can come up with when your producer tells you "write a kickass riff in 5 minutes!!!!!".

Better guitar riffs would be my number 1. There just wasn’t any real memorable riffs outside of maybe BTD and SOOHM.

Some of those guitar riffs straight up sound like Mark (+44) riffs. They are too repetitive though. His bass lines on CA are super underrated though, imo.
