I loved Finn in TFA but not so much in TLJ. I thought Rian was incredible at writing for Rey, Luke, and kylo, but not so much the other characters.

I can understand that. A lot of the characterizations and dialogue of those characters including Finn I wasn’t a fan of but his and Poe’s arcs I thought were incredibly written actually.

Yeah, I really hope that Finn has a more prominent role next time around. I know his story in TLJ was crucial for his growth as a character, but I'd love to really see Boyega's charisma really get to shine through this time.

Agreed. I think it will help that JJ is directing him and I think he came ou saying hell be having scenes with Daisy again.

Kylo/Ben is a great character. Rey is great also. Poe and Finn are alright.

I feel like we need some turmoil within the new big three in episode 9. Poe, Finn, and Rey are too fucking nice lol not that it needs to be this but Han, Leia, and Luke were always bickering and it was so much fun.

Even if not I just want to see Rey Finn and Poe have an adventure together.

  7. So let’s put this another way: I never wanted her parents to be of the kenobi or skywalker lineage, but yes I’d have liked to know more about her parents. Flashback would be dope too. And I completely see how “it’s important” for her to be no one, but the “reveal” by kylo that they’re no one should have been a more crushing blow. I just wanted the filmmakers to not only be a few steps ahead of the audience but also pull the rug from under me when I don’t want it. It just didn’t feel like the stakes were all that high, IMO, when kylo told her. I’ve only seen that part of the film once but I remember it feeling like it just kinda came out of nowhere.

I could see Rey and Poe bickering over pilot maneuver stuff

oooooo I could totally see that good call. I cant say weve seen two expert pilots in that situation ever too.

It’s still odd Rey and Poe have only shared 5 seconds of screen time in 2 films

If they find out Rey did not kill Kylo when she had the chance, that’s going to cause problems ha. All that throne room stuff and the force connection... will definitely not go over well.

I have close to no expectations for the new movie because I have no idea honestly which way it can even go, but I would like to see the Knights of Ren at least acknowledged. They're such an intriguing concept we have almost no information about and I'd like to see how Kylo ties into them.

As much as it got shit on, One if my favorite things from the last jedi was broom boy. Something so subtle, but I thought it was done so well.

I think Broom Kid would’ve gotten a much better reception if Canto Bight was executed more effectively. I feel like at that point people just hated that planet and everything on it so they naturally didn’t like going back there to close it off.

Love how Rian tied a lot of themes together with that last scene.

  15. People complain about the like 8 minutes of Canto way too much.

Just checked. Total of about 11 minutes not including the final scene. Really not that much in a 2.5 hour movie. I feel like when people complain about Canto Bight its just giving a label to Finn and Rose's adventure and scenes altogether (which is what they really didnt like) which is around 22 minutes. Not that I share this opinion, but I can see how 22 minutes of something you dont like sporadically through the movie ruins the flow of the other storylines.

  17. Was I the only one that got super excited that they might be pod racing on Canto Bight before we saw the horse creatures?

Regardless of length, it’s a super jarring tonal shift from the Luke/Rey scenes to canto stuff. And I love the movie overall.

Do most people not like pod racing? Not that it’s one of my favorite Star Wars moments and certain a lot of cheese but that’s one of the few things I enjoyed about TPM.

I actually mostly enjoy the podracing scene as well (loved the n64 game, that might also play a role in this), but it goes on about 5 minutes too long.
