late to the party but: (no order)

Parks & Rec - i love the world they build. all the zany side characters and citizens of Pawnee and Eagleton are fantastic and as much as The Office is secluded and narrow-minded as far as what the show shows, P&R goes in the opposite direction (makes sense for each show to do what they do) and it's so fucking awesome. i love all the city council / public scenes.

The Office - seasons 2 & 3 are fantastic for every episode. amazing TV. seasons 4 & 5 are also really great. season 6 slips a bit. season 7 has a great second half with Michael's farewell approaching and happening. Robert California is great imo. season 9 is pretty good overall but specific things really bother me (Andy being an asshole, Nellie at the start but she gets better). a really phenomenal all around cast.

Seinfeld - possibly the best of the best. just so, so good.

Community - i could never get into Community because i never kept up with news / entertainment so i didn't get many of the jokes / didn't understand the references. felt like i'd have to devote a few years to a bunch of other shit and then come back to this and i'm not gonna do that.

Arrest Development - only watched the first 3 seasons. magical, fantastic writing / scenes / characters and returning jokes. simply brilliant and each time i watch it i see why it failed. way too smart for its own good.

Scrubs -pretty sure this may be the first comedy i watched that didn't contain a laugh track? and i love Zach Braff so this was a no-brainer. glad a co-worker told me about this way back in high school otherwise i would have missed it. Dr. Cox is my spirit animal.

Archer - i can only watch 2, maybe 3 episodes at a time. not a show i can binge or watch quickly and that's okay. so cruel, brutal and hilarious.

Bob's Burgers - super fucking underrated. i adore the stupidity and how the stupidity is done in such a brilliant and wise-ass smart manner.

Boy Meets World - my absolute favorite show. i love the illogical inconsistencies and continuity errors. the finale always makes me cry. and the first day this aired on Disney Channel was all day marathon. that same day was the first day of sixth grade and you bet your ass i skipped the first day of school to stay home and watch a show i had already seen countless times.

Curb Your Enthusiasm - a more harsh, realistic, brutal Seinfeld without the "fluff" as Larry David would call it.

Lol I deserve that. Tbf though Meredith is having issues in the same knee, and ARob’s injury is groin related.

 

There is a post on here somewhere where I said Ben was toast after the Browns game. That did not age well.

 

Scrubs took a direction I disagree with but the first three seasons are brilliant and a good portion of 4 and 5 are too.

 

I never loved Scrubs, but it was very enjoyable up until the real finale, not that 9th season or whatever shit spinoff.

 

Also, I gotta throw my love for Frasier out there. That show is brilliant. Highly, highly recommended for anyone who hasn't seen it and want to try a new sitcom.

 

while we are on the subject of TV comedies, let me just throw out there that Friends absolutely sucks

Friends is not good. First four were good for a sitcom but largely it is not good

 

It's the HIMYM from the 90's. If you go into it not expecting something groundbreaking and simply enjoyable, you'll have a good time.

Again, it's not groundbreaking but is enjoyable. I'd put Scrubs in the same category.

 

Scrubs was definitely different. Especially the first couple of seasons.

 

I am forever Team Scrubs is the best pilot of any 30 minute show ever.

 

I mean yeah, it was a different type of show, but the same in that it wasn't groundbreaking or wildly original or whatever. Pretty standard sitcom stuff.

 

We have a very different definition of what is and isn't standard sitcom stuff. A main character accidentally killing three people and going on a bender afterwards isn't exactly par for the course.

 

I guess. I think you could go through any of those three sitcoms I referred to and find a few episodes that have darker tones and sad story lines.

 

I don't recall many dark things in Friends/HIMYM. Some sad moments in the latter for sure. But they also have problems that they just completely normalize and don't address. See: Chandler and Ross's homophobia versus Turk and Dr. Cox's.

 

Of the shows mentioned, Scrubs has the best finale. The Zack Braff finale is a 10/10.
